I remember Hargreaves being good, but am trying to see some highlights online to remember exactly how he played. Kind of like a more dynamic Barry? But when I try to look on youtube all I can find is his training videos which show nothing. Anyone know of a good video that shows him playing in an actual game? cheers

You may need to go back a few years before his legs totally unravelled. Sad for him really and I see absolutely no point in bringing him to us right now. None.

I understand that he'd just be for cover and basically Paddy V's replacement but I honestly never really rated him when he was fit and if we're prepared to waste a squad place on someone with his injury record I'd probably have rather kept Johnson. But then I guess I thought that the Paddy signing was mad at the time

They do NOT count towards the squad limits of 25/23 (or whatever it is for PL/CL)...as they are under 21.

Owen Hargreaves would not take up any slot that our kids would otherwise occupy, both he and them remain fully eligible to play. No matter how promising the likes of Razak are (Rekik is a central defender so has no impact on the Hargreaves situation/selection whatsoever) then in the PL or CL if I had a choice of a fit Owen Hargreaves (2 times CL winner and England's player of the tournament in WC 2006) or a talented raw kid....then Hargreaves wins every single time.

However what concerns me is that this crock ends up taking 1 valuable place in our 25 man squad that has to be named. If his legs get fucked again then we're effectively down to 24.

How can that be no-lose?

Simple Toy mate. That place is vacant, vacated by Mr Vieira. We couldn't get Van Bommel, De Rossi, Gago or any fucker else. So Hargreaves, although the last port of call, is undoubted a quality stand-in if he can play.

Remember the crap we heard on here about Vieira!

Bobby doesn't want to fill up a place with 'prospects' and maybes and wannabees. That may be bad for youth development, but he wants 11 players on the field at all times who can hold their own in world football. With the possible exception of the Carling Cup, although we have stated we are going for that too.

Mancini doen't give a fuck about player development, he only cares about winning. That's alright by me.
