Edin Dzeko

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The MOTD wankers are right on this one; he looks leaner & a yard quicker. Apart from the service, which has improved ten fold, the biggest difference in Dzeko is the effort he's making to get into goalscoring positions. He wasn't arsed enough at times last season & even this pre season, to get there quick enough. This season he is busting his balls to get into those areas where the ball ends up & wants the ball all the time in general play.

Balotelli can do a lot of the same stuff if he tries. Be interesting to see if Dzeko's upgrade works on Balo.

I think that's extremely harsh on him about not being arsed last season. He was playing for years with strike partner in pretty traditional 4-4-2 (which seemed midfield diamond mostly by the way) in Wolfsburg and he moved mid-season and was asked to lead the line and play traditional centerforward mostly back against the goal. Almost like learning completely new position.

He has obviously got hang of it now and I haven't seen such brilliant centerforward play in this league since Drogba in his prime. And that is besides his goals. In fact, his ability to hold the ball, drift wide when needed and create space for other players this season has impressed me even more than his goals.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Goalscoring is an art in itself irrespective of the general play of the team. I didn't say he was not arsed, I said not arsed enough. Watch the effort he makes to get into the six yard box v Spurs; he's running like fuck for the second goal & he's got his hand up shouting for the ball; he's doing what striker should do. Only a few weeks ago, he would have been jogging behind the defenders & completely invisible to his team mates. His 2nd & fourth goals were world class finishes but the two tap ins were just as important on the score sheet.

He's now doing exactly what Van Horseface did for rags, but with more workrate off the ball. If you have his ability & you work that hard to get into goalscoring positions, you will score goals; the Goat did it with half Dzeko's talent. The key now is to have the same balls as the Goat had & not get nervous when he hits a dry spell as, if he keeps doing what he's doing, any dry spell will end. He has to keep believing. He also needs to give Balotelli a DVD of his performance.

Spot on NQDP. Take the Spurs game at the end of last season. He was played up front on his own, and a lot of the time we were just lobbing balls over the top expecting him to run on to them. That's NOT his game. Obviously it was going to take him a little time to adjust to the Premiership and England itself. I'm happy for the lad, because most people were writing him off before he'd even had a preseason with us.

You must create more songs for Edin...That song (ooooo..edin dzekooooo) is not enough:D
Example:
after great chance: new song for motivation :D
after first goal sing a song oooo...edin dzekooooo
after second goal: one more new song :D
after third goal: again new song
etc...etc...
heheh :D

right now he is in bosnia, and he said for bosnian mediat: money is not important, we play for city coz we want to win trophies!
for city he plays with heart!

Nearly a third of the way there.

I hope I'm proved wrong and he gets more than 20.who would have thought we would start the season without non-stop tevez talk

Interesting stat here just been tweeted by Opta:

Edin Dzeko has been tackled 44 times in the Euro 2012 Qualifiers, more often than any other player. Target.

not suprise with that at all , this is the thin , no mather how ball going to him he is si strong that he will recive it somhow , and if u dont foul him and let him turn to goal well u know , i watch all int. games for bosnia and wath i realaize for the firs time that his all over the pitch he will be at half of fild on left on right arand 20 metars in a box and if u must be on him its wery hard for defender becose he knows if he pass him its bad situation , and that is why they faul him all the time....on last game 2 belorus players was in charge to watch him , still penalty on him and few good chances but in all that he leves so much space for other players to get in with that movement witch is relly strange for player his size and position he beheve somtimes like ofensive midfild player
