old club badge

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

old club badge

Postby lincoln blue » Sun Sep 11, 2011 6:08 pm

I know this will have been covered before but could someone please explain the situation with the club shop selling official merchandise with both old and new club badge. I was in the shop before the game yesterday and all the champions league stuff was flying off the shelves, but my eyes were drawn to the umbro diamond/retro range and again I was left thinking how much better the old round badge was. Who owns it? and why

I think it was mooted. I recall it was something to do with Swales when he 'franchised' the old portacabin souvenir shop, basically the club were getting nothing out of the merchandising sold .... fuckwits

The diamond range stuff is lovely, If I ever buy anything from City, i'll probably buy 1 of the tee shirts with the diamonds on the arms.

I'd take the old badge over the new one anyday, but I don't mind this one either.

Just wondering how we can still be selling other gear at the city store with the old badge if we don't own the rights to it?

If we had no rights to it surely we would have no merchandise with it on it.

Maybe Umbro own the rights.

Didn't we change around the same time we stopped using Umbro as kit supplier?

I lve the old badge and the tattoo on my arm would be delighted if we went back :)

Also the diamond range stuff is brilliant. Got the dark and sky blue ringer tee.
Tracking back is overrated.

My understanding is umbro own some sort of rights and are releasing old stuff a bit at a time

Any idea if they're gonna do any official retro jerseys? I'd love the 1977 home shirt again. I know Umbro have issued some NY Cosmos retro jerseys.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

An updated version of the old badge would be my choice.
I can't warm to the new one.

Bekky hahahaaa

I liked the old badge and still do but I think the new ones definitely more fitting with where the club want to go and I'm a fan of the motto, love it in fact

I don't hate the newest badge (apart from the three stars) but i'd go for badge number 2 personally:

The three stars represent the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, cause we all know God's a blue.

Bought myself that said T shirt, very nice, agree, favour the old badge too.
