Aguero or Sanchez

If we had been successful in our bid to sign Alexis Sanchez earlier this summer do you think we still would have gone for Aguero?

I don't think we would have and am glad Sanchez turned us down leaving the path clear to sign Kun

I'd like to think we were always after Aguero & were dead clever about it. I know several of us on here were wondering why we would be going for Sanchez rather than Aguero as it was pretty obvious Aguero was the bloke we needed.

I think there's a good chance we wanted both but kept the Aguero deal quiet whilst he was at the Copa.

I think Aguero would have come in regardless.

I doubt Nasri would have been brought if we had got Sanchez.

I'm with CityGer, I think Nasri would not have come, had we managed to sign Sanchez. I'm still a supporter of Sanchez and I still think he'd do well for us. Unfortunatly he got injured at Barcelona.

However, I'm glad we got Nasri, as he's a proved PL player, as well as linking up extremely well with Aguero, Dzeko and Silva. Good lord, his assists rate is ranking up quickly!

I think Nasri is more creative than Sanchez (I'm not saying Sanchez isn't creative by the way) so I'm more than happy we got him instead. I think Aguero would have arrived regardless.

Nasri is also a proven Premiership player and, as expected, has settled into the City team fairly easily. It may have taken Sanchez slightly longer to adapt to a new team in a new league and so out of the 2 I would always have gone for Nasri. However, Aguero and Silva have shown that it doesn't necessarily take foreign players a long time to adapt to the demands of the Premiership - sometimes a player has class in such abundance that he can adapt to a new league straight away

He has 4 assists already this season compared to just 1 last season (in the Premiership) and to think that there was some criticism of his lack of ability to create chances for others (based on last season's stats). It is no coincidence that now he is playing with better players his assist count is increasing

I think Bob would have brought all of them regardless if Tevez left or not. He wanted two world class players in every position to start this rotation system that we have now, when a player like Nige or Barry can be replaced without any problems.
The news that he wanted De Rossi in a position where we have Yaya, Barry, Milner and Nige can only consolidate this scenario.

But where would this have left us regarding FFP regulations? I thought the reason we signed Hargreaves instead of De Rossi or Gago was due to FFP

Yes, that was the main reason, but i am almost certain that Bob's next summer's target (i don't think he will bring someone this winter) will be de Rossi.

Aguero likes Napoli - agent
City star fosters affection for Italian club

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is open to a move to Italian club Napoli in the future, says his agent.

The Argentina international joined the ambitious Premier League outfit from Atletico Madrid in the summer and has already settled in English football, scoring six goals in four league appearances so far.

On Wednesday Aguero will make his Champions League debut for City against Diego Maradona's former team Napoli in a Group A fixture, with the Manchester club said to be one of the favourites for the competition.

Aguero's agent, Bruno Satin, has now spiced up Wednesday evening's clash at the Etihad Stadium by claiming that the 23-year-old has a soft spot for the Neapolitan club in his heart and could move to Naples sometime in his career.
Special place

"Aguero has a special place in his heart for Napoli," Satin told Radio Crc. "Tomorrow night (Wednesday) will be a special game because Napoli have come back in the Champions League.

"Aguero wants to play all the matches (for Man City) because he loves football and has fun on the pitch. Sergio is not afraid of anyone and Manchester City are one of the favourite teams in the Champions League.

"(Manager) Roberto Mancini has pushed to have my player at all costs. He costs a lot but he is proving to have everything to make the difference. The fact that the coach rates him highly is an added value for him.
Happy at City

"We follow what happens in Naples closely because Napoli are an important club with an important history.

"There may be a possibility in the future to exchange players, but for now Aguero is good at City.

"(Gokhan) Inler has been a great addition to Napoli, (Ezequiel) Lavezzi is also extraordinary. (Walter) Mazzarri is a good coach and it will be exciting to watch the game tomorrow (Wednesday) to see how and if Napoli are able to stop Manchester City."

In the other match in the group, Spanish side Villarreal host German giants Bayern Munich.

Why does his agent have to come out with this shit on the eve of our Champions League debut?

Read his quotes - it sounds like he was being asked leading questions and was basically brushing them off with vague answers. Bear in mind who Aguero's father in law is, and how that man is regarded by Napoli (almost as revered there as back home in Argentina).

It's just out of respect for Madonna. Nothing to see here, move on.

I still think we would eneded up with Aguero, but we wouldn't even bother going into Nasri.
