Does nobody remember his debut when he came of the bench at home to Wolves? He looked shit hot, as he did against Aris at home. He had his moments last season, but he was always going to have to settle in before he could maintain that level of performance.

That is certainly true ADVT, he looked a decent signing on his debut. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but for me I was always going to judge him more this season as history shows he was a slow starter at all his previous clubs. Still, he's fuclin on fire now, which is all that really matters ...

Yes, yes he was.

If his form this season has highlighted one thing, it's just how bad he was last season.

But you go right ahead Lee, rewrite history and pretend you knew all along.

Not rewriting history, stating facts. You are more than welcome to check them.

As for knowing all along, I didn't claim that.. but I didn't write him off either.

And I don't think anyone did.

Saying he was piss poor when he was doesn't mean he was never coming good, but it's fucking obvious to anyone that he is a confidence player. This season, comfortable with the style we play, familiar with the players around him and riding high on confidence, BANG...four goals at white hart lane. Tell me the player we saw last season would have buried that 4th.

He would have given it a damn good try when he was at Wolfburg.

Some of us did indeed say he would come good - he wasn't even match fit for three/four weeks after joining us.

thought his all round contribution last season was poor - trying his best, but looked a pub player at times.

To be honest, I was pretty pissed off with him by half time against Swansea. He was down the far end from me, so maybe I missed some things he did, but I was beginning to think we'd bought the wrong Dzeko or something. The introduction of Aguero made a huge difference to him, so maybe Tevez was as much the problem as Edin.

Main thing is he's started brightly, so let's hope he keeps it up, as confidence will be a big factor.

This wasn't how I remembered it so I did a bit of research and came up with the following stats:

Dzeko scored 5 goals in the last 20 games of last season - Not too bad and certainly not 'shite'

Of those 20 games he actually played in 15 of them - Making 5 goals from 15 games.

Of those 15 games he only started 9 - Making 5 goals from 9 starts.

Personally I think that's pretty bloody good!

Yes, he was. Whether or not he wasn't fit or played the wrong way or still adapting he played poorly. His touch last year was shockingly bad, time after time the ball wasn't sticking, his shooting very rusty and just generally not looking up to speed.
His goals also came against Notts County and some crap European team, hardly dominating Premier League teams!

This year has been a completely different story.

If we'd bought him this summer, he would probably he abit crap right now. But the optimistic way of looking at it is that buying him half way through last season, has allowed him 6 months to adjust, get a preseason, and settle properly.

Lesson for all I think. Even the lovers must have been abit worried, because he did look pretty shit at times.
