Sunday 18th September 2011, 15.00 BST
Well, after the excitement of our first ever venture into the gravy train that is the Champions League, it’s back to the job of keeping up the pressure in the Premier League, at Craven Cottage.

In recent years, both City and Fulham have had a lot in common, both clubs living in the shadow of successful neighbours, both having dropped into the third tier of English football, and both having been managed by Kevin Keegan, either side of his tenure as England boss. They have also both been bought by gentlemen from the Middle East, although the Blues seem to have got the better deal.

Strangely enough, in view of City’s poor home record against Fulham, managing only two wins in the Premier League, the Cottage has been quite a happy hunting ground for us, with four wins, and the unforgettable 3-3 draw in the Sven era.

Of course it’s now a totally different ball game, with the Blues elevation into the elite of world football.

City are currently riding high in the league, with four straight wins from four played, with fifteen goals scored along the way.

Martin Jol’s side, in contrast are having an appalling start to the season, having picked up just two points in home draws against Aston Villa and Blackburn, managing to net just twice while conceding five times.

Last season’s corresponding fixture resulted in a very comfortable 4-1 victory to the visitors, and the City squad have improved beyond recognition from the side that Roberto Mancini put out that day.

It’s difficult to see how the home side are going to be able to get anything from this match, with the Blues recent potency in front of goal and the cottagers porous defence all indicating a busy afternoon for Aussie keeper Mark Schwarzer.

Player to watch for City

So many to choose from, probably the whole team on their day, but for me at the moment I’ll have to go for Edin Dzeko.

Image

After a inconspicuous first half season, Dzeco has exploded this season and doesn’t seem to be able to stop scoring. With six goals from four games this season, and with the service he’s getting from Silva and Nasri, it’s hard to see him not improving on that total on Sunday.

Player to watch for Fulham

Clint Dempsey

Image

Hugely talented midfielder, capable of turning a match on his day. One of the few bright spots in Fulham’s season so far.

Prediction

Fulham 1
Manchester City 4

Good God man, have you lost your senses? I'm still getting to grips with last nights game and now I've got to look at Sunday's!

This Champions League business is just to much and a dose of reality against Fulham has brought me safely back to earth.

Cheers Pat.

Great game lastnight and fair play to Napoli as they played some brilliant football in the second half. Hopefully we can frsutrate them in the San Paolo just like they did agaisnt us and nick a win!

Speking of the Fulham match a mate of mine in work has two spares in the Neutral area for £60 for the pair of them he paid £100. Let me know if anybody wants them.

Thanks PB, great preview

I found some stats on newsnow.... I love stats me

FULHAM v MANCHESTER CITY
BIG MATCH STATS

Neither side has kept a clean sheet in the last 14 Premier League matches between Fulham and Man City.

In the last seven league games between Man City and Fulham, 11 of the 12 goals the Whites have scored have been netted in the second half, while 10 of the 13 City have scored have come in the first half.

In fact, all of the last 22 goals scored by Man City in this fixture have come before the 60th minute.

City have not lost any of their last five visits to Craven Cottage (W3, D2) and are looking for a third consecutive win there.

Both Fulham and Manchester City have scored in each of the last 15 meetings in all competitions. The last time either failed to score came in a 0-0 draw at City in March 2004.

Damien Duff has scored in his last two away games against Man City.

Fulham have lost just one of their last 11 Premier League games at Craven Cottage, though they have drawn the last three in a row.

Man City have won their last seven Premier League games in a row, their best run in the top flight since February 1978.

City have kept five clean sheets in their last seven Premier League outings.

Man City have lost just one of their last 10 Premier League visits to play London sides.

Manchester City have gone 14 Premier League games without a draw since they played out a 1-1 with Fulham at the Etihad Stadium in February.

Fulham have scored just two league goals this season - Manchester City strikers Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero have 12 betweeen them.

They have not won any of their last four Premier League home matches. If they fail to beat Manchester City, it will equal their previous worst record of five home matches without a victory, set on four previous occasions - most recently from November to December 2010.

Martin Jol has a 100% winning record against Manchester City - winning all six previous matches.

City have won both their away games in this season's Premier League but are yet to keep a clean sheet away from home.

They have scored 15 goals in just four league matches.

City's best ever top-flight winning sequence was nine games between April and September 1912, John68s first year as a season ticket holder

Not true.

Sorry to post in the wrong thread but did not want to start another one.

I have just got my Bayern ticket and thought that there must be a thread on here for people travelling / meeting up / suggested hotels etc

I have searched a few pages but could not find one - grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction

Great read that.

Pretty confident of a win today, but nothing is ever certain with City.
