Fair enough, but what is the connection between not being able to reform/manage certain players and then getting rid ?

Fobbing it off as reverting to type is a very convenient and dismissive way of covering up your own inabilities and failures.

In addition I would argue that controlling (people) by using a whip just masks an inability to control by consent and communication, therefore it stands to reason that as soon as the whip is lifted those who live beneath it rebel against it. That concept is bourne out by many many examples.

Cant say for Mancini, I think he seems quite unbending but i also think he seems a bit more relaxed and basically is more modern in the sense of treating people like people. i have the sense he looks to explain why he might be being harsh, if you like.

Basically, Taggart said that if they didn't conform they were out. Very similar to Mancini's approach I reckon.

T'was a good interview though and shows that you can't judge a book by it's cover. I didn't know who it was at first and when I realised it was Roeder it totally dispelled what I thought of him everytime I saw him in the dug-out.

But look at what the old fewker got out of it - an agreement to spend relatively big the following summer (just gone). I was a bit suspicious at the time that it was a collusion between Rooney and Pork-Loin-Features to get the senile old git a bigger transfer fund (with Rooney being paid for his part with a shiney new contract), but I now think he was just making the best of an opportunity.

seeing you mention rooney, craig johnstone the aussie who played for liverpool rekone there was too much money
taken out of the game by todays top players, and said there should be a ceiling on wages.
cue durham and gough on talksport discussing it, durham said ok wed lose some top players if it happened
gough said some players would stay for less money, rooney for one i could see him staying he just loves playing.

Gough and Durham really do your fuckin head in dont they? Apart from that Nostradamus stuff about wages from Craig Johnstone the rest of his interview was really good. His life story is something else. Lot of respect for the bloke.
