Ironically it's his arrogance and self-worth that have ensured he's gonna make it on the top level. Unwavering self-belief. He knows he's good and he will be as a result.

did he ever play for us? Watching motd2 tonight, I presumed he must have been born at the bridge, before finishing his footballing schooling at Bolton.

We should start an academy like Chelsea instead of just buying mercenaries in.

Can't forgive the twat for the disgraceful demands he made to stay with us after all the support he was given by the academy and the fans.

He was utter shite in his last 2 games for us.

Turning into a top player though.

Typical City....

He wanted some verbal assurances and cash money which Chelsea made good on. Can't complain about it really...i wish we'd have blown sunshine up his ass and shown him a wedge of cash, because we'd hardly give two fucls about what Tevez does if we had him in our strikeforce right now.

I really don't blame him for wanting to be treated well for the potential he has. I'd want the same for my son i think.

cheers

If he had a different outlook on life and dedication, he would've broken into the first team at 16, after being the best England player all through his youth. But he went missing for 6 years on the Big Time Charlie route and only after 2 whole years at Chelsea had started to play like he should have all those years ago.

I bet im the only one who isnt that arsed. He scored yesterday, against the poorest club in the league at the moment. He only started because Torres is suspended.

He is in his 3rd season there and has barely started 10 league games for Chelsea (very rough memory)

He is the sort of player that will have 1 wonder season at some point, and become Englands main hope for World Cup glory, hyped by the press just because he is English, then won't score a single goal in the World Cup and will never be seen again.

I would rate him above average, but lead the line in the Champions League? Get real.

I don't blame him for leaving us at the time, he wanted to fast track himself to the big time. But I fucking guarantee he regretted it deep down over those first 2 years, while he sat on the bench and we got better and better. It took him that long to eventually realise he needed to play football, swallowed his pride and went to Bolton, it worked out, but not that much has changed for him at Chelsea.

Further to Crossie's post, where would he stand in the shape of things? IMO he would be still at he bottom of the pecking order:

Sergio
Dzeko
Mario
Tevez (?)
Sturridge

And what about at Chelsea, he maybe moving up the pecking order but he's only just now in front of the likes of Kalou and Malouda:

Torres
Drogba
Anelka
Sturridge

Looked quality against a very poor Bolton yesterday and I wish him well for all that he attains in the future. One thing though, I'll still always remember him on that freezing night in January where he fucked and pissed around with the ball, complaining at everyone but himself when he lost it. A shit night that left me wanting to slice his face off and stick it on his arse, there was no bigger cheek than the way he played that night.

I was a Hughes supporter but his decision to give Ched Evans about five times as much game time as Studge was nothing short of outrageous. Even though DS was and is a cock, I can see why he got fed up.

Sturridge was often injured, shit & refusing to sign a new deal but still made 26 appearences in his last season, scoring a whopping 4 goals.

Ched Evans was better than him for the reserves & tried harder. That's why he got an occasional game; reward for being better trying harder & not having already decided he was fucking off to Chelsea.

Sturridges and/or his brothers wanting something like £55k a week after starting a handful of games put me off the fella. Then hearing the stories eminating from Esher/Cobham about his twatish behaviour made me glad he went ... the next Joey Barton, got the ability, cent of a person syndrone

Come on Ted, don't be disingenuous. How many starts?

He always carried more of a goal threat than Evans, who must've started a fair few more matches. (Not to mention the fact that we often used Sturridge as back-up to Robinho, and stuck him out on the left).

How many did Evans start ?

He filled in whilst Surridge was playing like shit/injured/sulking/talking to Chelsea & then got fucked off when everyone was fit. Sturridge got brought on as sub, did ok, started, was fucking shite & dropped again. He was less impressive than Jo.

He couldn't get a game at Chelsea a full year later.
