Carlos Tévez held an hour-long meeting with Manchester City officials on Monday night as the acrimonious events in Munich moved into the hands of lawyers.
Manchester City’s legal and human-resources team met the striker at a Manchester location as the fallout of the striker’s dispute with manager Roberto Mancini entered its second week.
It is anticipated the internal investigation into the affair will last up to seven days.
Tévez has made it clear he is willing to fully co-operate with the review and will be happy to be recalled to provide further details of his version of the events at the Allianz Arena.
He will now delay a return to Argentina, where he had intended to see out the remainder of the two-week suspension imposed by the club, after agreeing to make himself available for further talks.
Both City and the players’ representatives have declined to comment on the talks because of the legal sensitivities, and the possibility that more meetings will be required.
Tévez was suspended by City following claims from manager Roberto Mancini he refused to play as a substitute in the Champions League fixture with Bayern Munich.
Mancini stated Tévez is “finished” at the club in the immediate aftermath of the game, but the Argentine contends he did not refuse to play and the incident was a misunderstanding.
It will be a week tomorrow before Tévez will be allowed to train with the club again. Whatever the outcome of the club’s review, there is little doubt his standing with the City faithful has been destroyed as much as his relationship with his manager.
His fall from hero to zero has been underlined with his tumble from the top to the bottom of the club’s shirt sales.
The City fans made their feelings for him clear following the Champions League fixture, brandishing banners with “Tévez Out” at last weekend’s Premier League game at Blackburn.
But the love affair between Tévez and the Eastlands faithful was already over judging by their sharp decline in merchandise bearing his name.
Before his first transfer request last December, his name and No 2 sold by far the biggest number of jerseys in City’s club store.
Since then he has sold the fewest of the club’s big-name stars, with recent requests falling to none.
Manchester City aiming to tie up deal for Fiorentina ace in January

Roberto Mancini has been strongly linked with a move for the Italian midfielder who has been earning rave reviews in Serie A.
Cerci has also attracted interest from several big clubs in Spain, but reports in Italy suggest that City are still the strong favourites to clinch his signature.
The talented winger admits he was flattered by the interest which City showed in him during the summer, but is refusing to let all the speculation affect his form and will continue to give everything for Fiorentina.

Ben Mee is hoping to impress on loan at Burnley this season, with the Manchester City youngster wanting to show Roberto Mancini that he is closer than ever to receiving a chance to shine at the Etihad Stadium next season.
Mee moved into the senior City squad through the youth ranks in 2009, and has spent loan spells as Leicester City and Burnley since.
And the England Under 21 international says that he is hoping to star for the Npower Championship side this season, thus staking his claim on a spot in the City squad in 2012.
"It would be great to get a few first-team games back at Manchester City, but I'm just looking to do well here at Burnley for now," Mee told skysports.com.
"Whatever happens back at City will happen in due course and I can't do anything about that at the moment.
"We will have to see what happens next year because obviously there is a wealth of talent there and it is going to be difficult for any youngster to break into the first team there.
"That is my long-term goal, but whether it will happen remains to be seen for another year at least."
Mee has so far made six appearances for Burnley, and the defender is hoping to build on that number to play alongside some of the best players in the world.
Alex Ferguson not surprised by Manchester City start
Sir Alex Ferguson expected Manchester City to make a flying start to the season.
Despite dropping just two points in their opening seven Premier League games, finding the net on an incredible 24 occasions, Manchester United headed into the current international break boasting a single goal advantage over City, who have also drawn just once.
Little wonder it has led to many pundits predicting an all-Mancunian title carve-up.
It has certainly heightened anticipation for the first derby clash of the season, at Old Trafford on October 23, although Ferguson insists the Blues' fast start has not caught him by surprise.
"I've said all along that would happen," Ferguson told Inside United.
"They are a good team and they were always going to be there or thereabouts.
"Sergio Aguero was bound to do well, coming into the Premier League, because he is such a goal threat around the penalty box. David Silva is also a very good player.
"We just have to make sure we are ready for City when we meet them."
Previously, Ferguson has cheekily suggested Liverpool were United's true derby rivals.
Sheikh Mansour's £1billion investment in City has changed all that, with the plethora of stars working under the guidance of Roberto Mancini bringing an extra dimension to the fixture.
"All derbies are big now, that is the nature of the landscape," said Ferguson.
"The impetus City now have - they have a huge squad of players and the financial power to attract some of the best footballers in the world - actually changes the focus of the derby these days.
"The talking point isn't so much the actual game but the dynamics of how Manchester City have changed football and what we do to compete with that."
Yet, ahead of that game, the Red Devils must visit Anfield to face the team they deposed as England's most successful club in May, when they clinched a record 19th league title.
Liverpool have been difficult opponents to overcome in recent seasons though, with Dirk Kuyt bagging a hat-trick in last term's corresponding fixture.
"We have been poor there of late," said Ferguson.
"On a couple of occasions we have been out-fought by them, which is disappointing.
"The atmosphere plays a part. Every time we go there it is as if it's the biggest game of the century."
