Tevez v Bob

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Tevez v Bob

Postby Piccsnumberoneblue » Wed Oct 05, 2011 12:49 am

Now I've read most of the posts on this topic and to say we have a fairly uniform viewpoint amongst fans is quite understated.
However Bob may well have said something quite rash after the Bayern game. . Essentially he made it a "him or me" issue. Was that really that wise from the clubs point of view?
I know there are lots of facets to this argument to take into account, but if you strip it back to the basics, is our "Tevez must die on a rusty nail" stance, all that wise?
Put simply, a manager who has been far from convincing or a genuine proven world class striker? Which is harder to replace?

Also, would it be so bad if he played for us again?
If you accept that modern footballers are a mercenary bunch of greedy fuckers, going where the money is, then Tevez is just one more. Admittedly, pretty near the top of the list of culprits, but essentially not that much different. Personally, I reckon if he whacked in a hatrick here and there, plus shoved a couple up Bacon Face, he'd be more or less forgiven by the majority. We're a fickle bunch.

It'd be bad because it shows that it's 'okay' to undermine the manager and refuse to come on. It's not okay. Mancini is completely right. I can't even begin to imagine in what way that is acceptable.

It was very wise from the manager's point of view. Tevez has been a thorn in his side for absolutely ages and was, in all probability, creating much tension behind the scenes and in the dressing room.
Assuming Tevez goes or is pushed, Mancini's authority goes up a fucking big notch.

Yes

Put simply, a manager who has been far from convincing or a genuine proven world class striker? Which is harder to replace?

Why would you want to replace that twat?
Also, would it be so bad if he played for us again?

I will NEVER forgive him. I wouldn't even contemplate cheering if he scored the winning goal in the ECL final to be honest.

Ahh you say that now but....
Seriously a few well chosen words and a handful of goals and every thing looks different.
Oh and not replacing world class players is nearly always a mistake.

I can assure you that in all the years I've followed City I have NEVER felt this way about a player.
There is no set of 'well chosen words' in the English (or Spanish) language which could pacify me on that score - I saw the interviews, they told me all I needed to hear.

As for replacing him yes, by all means find another world class striker if absolutely necessary but not an egocentric twat like that.

Is it acceptable for our manager to back us into a corner, probably costing us millions in a transfer fee, by saying something so final in the heat of the moment?
But I digress.
I'm suggesting that if you simply ask the question, who is harder to replace, Tevez or Bob?
I suspect that Carlito might just squeak it.

Ha ha, sorry my friend.
I'm just saying. If you accept the nature of the game now and what it has become, then maybe we are cutting off our nose to spite our face.
I think Tevez is a slimey little shit. But I feel that about most modern players. But he scores goals. And every club craves a goal scorer.

That's ok. I'm a world renowned insomniac anyway. :-)

But I'd put more than a tin hat on if I were you - in fact, given your likening the situation to Spurs and Modric, which I've just seen in the other thread, I'd make it an NBC suit :-D

Well................ I see this in 3 ways:

1/ fans and all in football understand Bob's anger and back a tough stance...........

2/ unfortunately the words did paint all parties into a corner and leave little room for any compromise

3/ if I was one of the people in the CITY management structure with the job of sorting this out I would definitily wish that Bob (as the CITY head of playing affairs) had not said this so robustly. If there can be any evidence potentially put before a legal process that supports an 'employment tribunal' view that there has been a process of constructive dismissal then we are fucked and Tevez will be able to secure the outcome(s) he (and kia-twat) wants.

Only from a 'legal CITY position' I wish Bob had been as back-sliding and prevaricating as Tevez (obviously under instruction) was. Words along the lines of "......yes - but this was my view in the heat of the moment when I firmly believed that there had been a refusal to play - but if it is proven that there was a mis-understanding......." would help the CITY brass that have to sort this. It would have been sickening - the media would be slating us - but just from the 'legal and sorting it out position' it might provide the club with more options to be tougher in the long run.

As it is I think that Tevez has a very good hand.........

The club will also be aware that nothing can (nor should) be done to unsettle Bob who has a pretty unassailable position - this will all lead to us taking a financial hit of some description to be able to move on - sickening !!!

It was black-and-white - a clear (and terminal for one of them) challenge to Bob's authority and Bob's response after the game was as equally black-and-white.

It's simple for me ............

Tevez was totally, 100 per cent wrong. Mancini was right - "for me he is finished" he said.

To even try to compare the situation with other vaguely similar episodes - like the Modric one for instance - is ludicrous. Modric said he would rather not play because "blah, blah", he didn't make an outright refusal to play.

Tevez, on the other hand, had actually donned the shirt; taken his assigned starting position, and THEN (with 'impeccable' timing,on the night City announced themselves to the world's elite) and ONLY then he decided he was not going to play when instructed to.

Everything was done to HIS agenda, and to cause maximum chaos for Mancini, the club, and the executives of the club.

If, God forfend, Mancini ends up walking over this issue because the club don't totally back him, then I may well lose interest altogether.

As for Tevez : The only way I would ever want to see him in a City shirt again is if HE BUYS IT HIMSELF FROM THE FUCKING CITY SHOP.

Bob perhaps shouldn't have said straight away in interviews that Tevez will never play for us again, but in Tevez's first interview, he admitted he refused to play purely because he didn't want to.

Bob hasn't lied throughout this. Tevez HAS lied, and his contrasting interviews confirm this (not to mention interviews such as Micah's which show all of the players know exactly what happened).

Mancini is in charge. Tevez is a brainless twat. Tevez is leaving.

Absolutely no question at all who's right and who's wrong here.

Bob was correct to say what he said. He's been pushed to limits beyond what any manager should have to deal with. I'm only surprised that he didn't flip out on the bench. I suspect he knew deep down that something like this was brewing.

We have already replaced Tevez with Aguero. This was done because the troll forced our hand.

If we hadn't and I'm given the choice I would choose Mancini for the simple reason he wants to be here to do his best for this club, Tevez on the other hand well you don't need me to say it really do you?

I understand what you are saying piccs, but no, it wouldn't be acceptable

Tevez doesn't want to be here, in your future scenario tevez scores hatricks, rubs fergies nose in it lifts the CL single handedly.....

What is far more likely is that he undermines the manager, slaps in a transfer request before the scum game and goes on strike for the CL final.

Yes we have lots of mercenaries at city, and football in general, but that's exactly why you need a manager who has the authority and backbone to show everyone who is boss

Emotions aside, Bob is not as cool as he looks. Tevez has fast forwarded the I want out by 3 months, that must have been a shock to his clan, Tevez playing again for MCFC, If that was to happen I suspect Bob would be gone, we would have a new manager.

Thinking about it that is how we have always been at City, It is bound to happen.
