Corinthians cool interest in signing Carlos Tevez from Manchester City
Corinthians have no plans to renew their interest in Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez, their general manager Edu has told BBC Sport.
Tevez was the subject of a £35m bid from the Brazilian club in July but they ran out of time to seal the deal.
The 27-year-old is currently suspended while City investigate his alleged refusal to play against Bayern Munich.
"At the moment there are no plans to try and sign him again," said former Arsenal and Brazil midfielder Edu.
"I'm starting to think about our new squad for 2012 and I've talked to our coach [Tite] about what we need - but Tevez was not mentioned.
"We are always interested in world-class players like Carlos but you need to analyse if it's right for you at that time to try to sign him or not. We have not spoken to him or his agent."
Edu was in London as part of a trip to Europe aimed at working on deals for new players and building the Corinthians brand overseas.
He attended the Leaders in Football conference on Wednesday and Thursday, where a number of City officials and Tevez's adviser Kia Joorabchian were also present.
"As things stand, we have not considered going for Tevez," said the 33-year-old, who scored 15 goals in 127 appearances for Arsenal between 2001 and 2005.
"On Wednesday I spoke to our club president [Andres Sanchez] to see if he wanted me to make contact and start negotiations while I'm over in Europe but he said no, it's up to you to decide.
"Of course, that could change. It's nice to be over here to see the real situation of Tevez and speak to people about him. Then we can start to decide if it's right for us to try again."
Edu blamed the collapse of Corinthians' summer move for Tevez, who played for them for two years before joining West Ham in 2006, on a lack of time to complete a deal before the Brazilian transfer window closed at 0400 BST on 21 July.
"I was talking to Manchester City in July and we tried to buy him for 40m euros but the negotiations were not easy," he stated.
"We needed to arrange bank guarantees and other things. To organise all of that in two or three days was very difficult. That's why we lost him."
City are still looking into Tevez's behaviour during their 2-0 defeat by Bayern on 27 September, with the Argentine international expected back for training on 13 October.
"It is very strange for me to hear that he refused to come on," commented Edu. "Every player knows that sometimes you have to be on bench, you work for the team whether you're playing or not.
"They pay him to work for the team whether he plays or not. I was a player and I can understand that sometimes it doesn't feel good to be on the bench, but if he decided not to play that was a very bad decision."

James Milner fears for his England future
JAMES MILNER fears that Manchester City's rotation policy could wreck his England ambitions.
The £24million wide man has spent more time on the bench than the pitch this season and has started just three games for City, He is worried a lack of regular action could affect his international career as England look to secure European Championship qualification against Montenegro tomorrow.
Milner, 25, was on the bench in Munich last week when Carlos Tevez refused to go on as a sub during City's Champions League defeat by Bayern.
He is not allowed to discuss that night's events as the club is carrying out an internal investigation.
But he admitted: "It has been frustrating this season. I've only played a couple of games and also had a few injuries so it's been difficult for me.
"I played 90 minutes at Blackburn on Saturday and all I can do is try to perform as well as I can. After that it's down to the manager. Hopefully I can stay fit, play more and keep improving to stake a claim for a place.
"The competition is very high at City and you have to play well every time you get a chance if you're going to stay in the team.
"But if you look at the fixture list and how many games we have this season, everyone is going to play more than enough matches.
"We want to challenge on all fronts and you have to use the entire squad to do that.
"We are going to get injuries and suspensions over the course of the season so it's important to have such a big squad with so much quality."
Milner does not take any comfort from the fact he could be one of the freshest players in the England squad going to next year's European Championships if he continues to play second fiddle to David Silva at City.
He said: "Hopefully I will have played a lot of games by the end of the season.
"If you're playing every game, doing well and winning trophies then you don't feel tired. When you're winning you don't notice the fatigue.
"But then you lose one game and suddenly you feel as tired as you've ever been. On the other hand, if you're not playing so much you might be fresher."
Milner won his 19th cap in last month's 1-0 win over Wales but admits it was hardly a performance to fill England fans with optimism.
He said: "We didn't play as we well as we know we can and that was disappointing so soon after our performance in Bulgaria.
"We have to improve our consistency to move forward but football is a results business and it's important to win games when you're not playing well.
"The manager said he knew before the game that we were going to struggle but I wasn't conscious of it. I don't believe it's anything to do with playing at Wembley because we've had good performances there.
"But it could help us being away on Friday because Montenegro need to win. They will have to come out and attack us and we'll be able to use the gaps.
"At the start of this qualifying campaign our objective was to win the group and now we're in a position to do that.
"We need at least a point on Friday and we want to finish the job. Then we can start thinking about the European Championships and make sure it goes better than the World Cup."

West Ham United still keen on taking Manchester City outcast Carlos Tevez on loan
West Ham United are serious in their intent of taking Carlos Tévez on loan even if the club privately put their chances of completing the deal at a more than modest one per cent.
Still one per cent is better than zero and initial emails from West Ham to Manchester City, and to Tévez’s adviser Kia Joorabchian, have been followed up with phone calls in the past few days.
The bid had been dismissed by some as a stunt by the Championship club but there is real hope that once the investigation into Tévez’s alleged refusal to play against Bayern Munich is complete a move can be properly discussed.
There is no immediate time frame for either the inquiry to be resolved – although that should happen next week — or a deal to be struck as the window to loan from Premier League to Championship does not close soon.
Tévez has returned to Argentina, with City’s blessing, while he serves his two-week suspension and waits to see what happens with the inquiry findings. He has agreed to return within 24 hours notice.
The saga is mired in legal issues, of course, with City considering imposing a fine of six weeks’ wages — amounting to more than £1.2 million — and Tévez also keeping his options open as to what his response could be.
It’s highly unlikely he will be sacked for breach of contract but highly likely that City will seek to sell him in January for a cut-price £20 million if a buyer can be found.
A return to Brazil, to rejoin Corinthians, would appeal of course, given the interest in the summer, but what do City do with Tévez until the end of this year given the emphatic statement that he will never play for the club again made by manager Roberto Mancini?
Never say never, but there can surely be no way back for both parties.
Should the investigation go against him City may decide sending Tévez out on loan is not a punishment while West Ham will want nearly all of the player’s wages covered by his present employer. A deal does seem unlikely but, for sporting reasons, it might be the best option for Tévez. A dialogue is ongoing. Guardian

Del Bosque quiet on Silva
Spain coach accused of freezing out Man City star Silva
Image
The Spain coach, Vicente Del Bosque, has refused to respond to reported accusations from David Silva that he has frozen the midfielder out of his plans.
Manchester City star Silva, 25, has been in fine form in the Premier League so far this season but went public with his unhappiness last month in an interview with the AS newspaper.
He said that he did not feel the support of Del Bosque and claimed he had been made the scapegoat following Spain's surprise defeat to Switzerland in the opening game of the 2010 World Cup finals.

Speaking in Prague ahead of Spain's Euro 2012 qualifier against the Czech Republic on Friday night, Del Bosque said: "I have to talk to David Silva.

"He said something at the time that he considered his treatment unfair but he has not said anything to me.
"Therefore I can't say anything."
Spain have a 100 per cent record in Group I so far with six wins out of six and beat the Czechs 2-1 in the reverse fixture.

He's probably fortunate it's not chosen on ability either or he'd not even have his one cap.

Chinners, I think that you missed something out mate..............

When I read this:

"JAMES MILNER fears that Manchester City's rotation policy could wreck his England ambitions."

I scrolled looking for where Milner had commented on the fact theat our rotation policy could be wrecking his career, fearing that we had another high profile case of player mal-content.......

I found:

"The competition is very high at City and you have to play well every time you get a chance if you're going to stay in the team.
But if you look at the fixture list and how many games we have this season, everyone is going to play more than enough matches."

But on reading properly - that cannot be it...... Then I found:

".... if you look at the fixture list and how many games we have this season, everyone is going to play more than enough matches.
We want to challenge on all fronts and you have to use the entire squad to do that. We are going to get injuries and suspensions over the course of the season so it's important to have such a big squad with so much quality."

Well this was confusing as it seems not to support the headline at all??

Then at last I found:

Milner does not take any comfort from the fact he could be one of the freshest players in the England squad going to next year's European Championships if he continues to play second fiddle to David Silva at City.

I thought that this must be it until I realised that these were not his words - this was the Journo's sage analysis beased I guess on.....

"Hopefully I will have played a lot of games by the end of the season.
If you're playing every game, doing well and winning trophies then you don't feel tired. When you're winning you don't notice the fatigue. But then you lose one game and suddenly you feel as tired as you've ever been. On the other hand, if you're not playing so much you might be fresher."

But as this comment seems to highlight the issues of potential tiredness from playing games and the potential benefits of feeling fresher through rotation - well this cannot be it either - and so on.

I was left to conclude that either the Journo is an attention seeking wanker that is simply portraying Milner's words in a manner (with the Tevez situation) that might get more attention / satisfaction - or you have forgotten to include some parts of the story.....

Just thought I had best check mate

Chinners - am I failing (or is it passing?) the idiot's test? - how do you know the names of these wags? I think that you used to issue a line saying who they are and who they are shagging - is this a question of clicking on the picture? (I have tried)

IDIOT'S GUIDE TO WAG NAME HUNTING.

->Right click photo.

->View Image Info.

->Sometimes the name is at the end of the "Location" line, hold-click on the line and move your mouse right, it should scroll to the end.

->If the name isn't present, highlight the entire location bar, copy it(ctrl+c) and open a google window, paste(ctrl+v) into the google bar and hit SEARCH.

->It may be on a webpage devoted to the WAG or if you hit GOOGLE IMAGES, it will probably come up there with a name and many copies of the picture.
