Well, that was.........inconclusive.

Really? Very conclusive for me, on several fronts. Shows them for the bullies they are and they clearly were not in any shape or form managing that situation properly; from a few people stood up to the brink of a very nasty little riot. The video was shot from just about where my SC was for last season and the sort of harranging we got, almost every game, from these stewards was a disgrace. I tried to calmly explain to one of them that if people were stood up to my right, ie the rest of 110, I would not be able to see the football if I sat down. The best strategy, then, would be to start from the other side of the block. Given that 110 is right on the end of the stand, it's just blatantly obvious. The steward listened. Then continued to be a twat.

I think the main issue here is why pick on some old guy who can't defend himself? It's perfectly OK for munes to light up two flares (WHERE WERE THE STEWARDS WHEN THESE GUYS WERE WALKING IN TO THE GROUND??!!!!!!!!) and no stewards even go over to them to kick them out. But when and elderly guy stands up, maybe not even wanting to but NEEDING to because everyone in front of him is, he gets filled in for it. Absolutely outrageous and I'm sure the club will be receiving a lot of complaints about it.

Stewards are great where I am, apart from one that I reprimanded on the turnstile once, but it does seem that they have got the worse of a bad breed down there. Surely that video, and others should be shown to the club and authorities and I'm sure if I was down there whilst they man-handled that gentleman, the Scum would be in the same position he ended up in.

Disgraceful behaviour that must now be dealt with before it gets to a point where lives are actually put at risk.

Are the stewards actually allowed to be so physical, I thought they had to get the police to eject people if they refused to move?

I have emailed it to the club, the police, the police complaints commission, the Manchester Evening News, the Guardian, the BBC and ShowSec.

I doubt I will hear back from any of them though as that might involve somebody doing something about it.

That's what I don't get. In the CB the stewards add to the game yet down there it's as if they go there with the intention to cause maximum hassle. I wouldn't mind if they were all hooligans and they needed some sort of rounding-up but it's quite obvious to see that it's a very mixed stand who's only intention is to create and enjoy the atmosphere.

To man-handle someone like that, considering his age is an absolute disgrace but why pick on him in the 1st place; now that's the real crux of it?

Just watched the videos and read the thread about it on bm, feel physically sick that these fuckers think its alright to bully an elder gent because he's seen as an easy target, i have 3 mates who worked for showsec in the summer for the take that concerts and one of them is a season ticket holder and he said that that showsec is full of rags who hate city with a passion and they told him they go out of their way to piss off city fans during the season, it all boils down to fletcher sorting these arses out but i seriously doubt he will as he is an oxygen theif

dont blame the blues for kicking off with the stewards (i would have done the same) who clearly used the goal as a distraction to heave him out, he could've actually died and it was quite disgusting seeing him lying there while the showsec guys were thinking they'd bgot a job well done, wouldnt piss on them if they were on fire

That needs to be highlighted to the club as well imo ...

The club wont do anything, they'll say its out of our hands who they employ and carry on as usual until it goes to pot again next game

My dad has high blood pressure and has to take tablets. I personally prefer sitting down, but I get why people want to stand...sometimes we have to stand for a few minutes because people are stood up in front of us, and what's to say that the twatish showsec won't pick on my dad one day? We tend to sit around 109 too, not quite in it, but near it...if they picked on my dad, who is one of the nicest men yo could possibly meet, it could cause him to have a heart attack. I'd be fucking devastated watching that video if i was related to the man. I'm glad he's okay, but its horrible to watch. Sickening.

The thing that annoys me is the fact that we seem to be the only group that gets told to sit. South stand don't seem to have any trouble from what I see - is this true? And it's a pain in the arse watching away fans laugh at us as were all told off like naughty schoolkids for standing whilst they do what they want.

Saw some fat cunt getting escorted out of their section in first half only for him to reappear again second half.

I love standing and I think the atmosphere is ten times better when we do.

The club needs to get it sorted asap because it's the same every week.

South Stand had it for 2-3 seasons if I recall.... I spoke to a steward once, I asked him why we couldnt stand etc, and he was quite amicable and honest and said that it isnt the club who decided, its the council and the club have to adhere to council rules etc. But it was all due to health and safety..... the thing is though, its safe to stand up in whatever stand you are in before the game, during half time and after it, yet for 90 minutes its DANGEROUS!!!! Surely its more dangerous to be sat on the front row just to side of the goal as you have the potential to have a ball smahsed in your face at circa 70mph.... is that not dangerous? The club happily advocate the poznan, which is surely even more dangerous than standing?!

Anyway, in the SS after they had tried to get us to sit down for quite a number of games they started closing certain rows of the stand.... I think there were two or three separate occasions where 2-3 rows together were closed to try and stop the standing. They eventually got bored/decided not to bother any more as it just wasnt working, there was quite a lot of hostility towards ALL steweards in that area regardless of what stage of the matchday it was. Thing is, I dont think I've heard of any single injury sustained by anyone for standing during the game, certainly not as a direct result of them standing, or by others standing!

I would imagine that the next step is to close a couple of rows of the stand, and if that still doesnt work, perhaps they'll look at the away fans instead.... they seem to be able to stand all game with no fuss.

My only advice would be to weather the storm.... they'll fuck off eventually, but expect things to get worse before things get better!
