Nasri and Dzeko were so, so poor tonight. Especially that header at the end. Milner and Balo need to start the derby.

I thought Nasri had a pretty good first half but he was anonymous in the second half

Toure is another conundrum. Can we afford to have a passenger for the last 20 on Sunday, especially with 2nd half battering in the community shield. Plus he kept giving the ball away tonight.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

It was a moment in the second half when the ball was at Dave and instantly he was surrounded by 2 villareal's players. Imho Garrido's defensive plan was to take care of them, not let them creat and anihilate our offensive plan and and he succeded so we looked pretty clueless. The same system was used by Mazzari when we played with Napoli.

I agree.
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

You know what, reading match topic and everything, I was once again happy I stayed away from the site during the game and in immediate aftermath. We might not have played well but that winner was such a fucking buzz, you think that it's because of moments like that you go through years and years of watching utter crap..... and last minute winners of opposition.

So fuck off all you haterzzzzzz...... I enjoyed it.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I enjoyed that bit.

Everything else was shit. It's not the wonderful standard of the oppo that's the problem it's us; we're not coping properly with European football. Everything we did v Villa was better than everything we did v Villareal. It's not the same team at all. It was the same v Napoli apart from Bob was on the ball tactically in this game where as he was useless as well v Napoli. Hopefully that goal will shake us out of this torpor because we are a top side in the Prem but we play like a mid table standard side in the Champion's Lg & that's exactly where we would be if we played like this in the Prem.

I think it is more the standard of the opposition than anything or perhaps the style .We are playing effectively top 3 top 4 sides that have plenty of Euro experience( 2 of them anyway) and it's a massively tougher ask than in the prem against so so sides. They set up very well defensively and so far we havent seemed to have the nouse and quality to get through them. It's a learning curve and we need to learn fast.

Perhaps one thing that came out of last night's performance is a response to all those (alleged) footballing cognoscenti, especially the MOTD ugly sisters Hanson and Lawrenson to name but two, who, with cunningly knowing smiles and nodding heads as they look into the cameras, have raised the question as to how City would react to going a goal behind, particularly when not playing very well ( and not, in their knowledgeable pundit's eyes, possessing great team spirit to help them through).

Last night, City went a goal down and didn't play as well, as Bobby might say, "as is normal" but, in the end, the team dragged themselves out of the mire and produced a win.

Shock, horror aside, all the expert 'know-alls' will now have to find some further questions to critically ask about us, as this one has been effectively answered and the task of finding further questions may well be beyond their intellectual capabilities.

Why did we play so badly? My own opinion is City is miles and miles far to have a true killer instinct.
Joe Hart for example looks like he was taking part yesterday night to a Citizens celebration instead of an hard battle of European Champions League. And so it was for AJ!
That's the reason I believe we must concentrate all our efforts for the Premier League!
From Torino, Italia to Manchester, Lancashire this City is always our City!

I don't think we played that badly, Dzeko was shite just like recent weeks, NDJ looked rusty, thats all, but his positional play was still ok. Silva and Nasri had nothing to work with up front as Dzeko was no help.

Our main problem was conceding a fluke goal, Villareal then sat back and we found it hard to break then down, just like against everton. When the likes of wigan or blackburn sit back we eventually wear them down but it is harder to do it against quality teams.

We need to learn how to be more direct when attacking, and need more movement with silva, nasri and yaya breaking their line and getting onto through balls
