Bob after Chivu

Postby PeterParker » Thu Oct 20, 2011 7:14 pm

I am not sure if this story is 100 % real, because the journalist that made the interview is quite a figure, but he is the one that announced the transfer of Pantylemmons.

Anyhow, he made an interview with Bob today and he asked him about Pantylemmons and then talked to him about Chivu, a player that brought at Inter and who will be a free agent next summer.

Here is the interview: http://www.gsp.ro/international/stranie ... 73403.html

I will translate the part about Chivu:

Rep: What do you think about Chivu (after he was ask about Mutu).
Bob: With Cristi is another thing. I know him well, we worked together at Inter. Beside what everyone knows, i know his character, his personality and he is really a nice lad.

Rep: Aren't you tempted to buy him?
Bob: Knowing that he will be a free agent makes him a target for us and for other clubs.

I will keep you up to date if this looks real.

To be fair Peter when a journalist asks about a player there are 3 possible answers:

1) Never heard of him
2) He's a useless cunt
3) Yep he's a good guy and of course we would be interested

But you never know mate.

Chivu is a fine player but horrible crock. And we already have two expensive leftbacks. He can play as left central defender but I'm not sure he'd be good in that position in England.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

It'll be the same conversation he had over Landon Donovan when all the press had us buying him, just 'cause Bob said he was a quality player on our US tour

The connection between us and Chivu is of course Mancini who brought him to Inter so I'd say this 2+2=756932 situation whereas Donovan thing was just overenthusiastic reporting.

Still don't think Bob is interested though.

This is what i know (i asked a good friend who works with the journalist to tell me about what he talked to Bob).

1) He really talked to him, but there where some things that Bob said that the reporter didn't put in his article. He said that Mancini was approached by Becali Ioan, the agent that worked with Bob when he was at Lazio, as a manager and told him about Chivu's situation. Bob was very glad about this and will try to do a "Vieira" with Chivu, but waits to see if Inter wants to suggest him a new deal.

2) Chivu is a center back, but Mourinho used him as a left full back and he was there since then. I am thinking that he wants a player that he can bring in when the situation is ugly and to slow the tempo, like Paddy did and that's why he looks interested in this kind of players (see Abidal).

3) About Chivu. Imho, when he was at Ajax he was the best center back in Europe. He had a positioning that made him great, but then it went down, even though he played for Roma and Inter and in Europe. He suffered some ugly accidents, like Pete Cech did and imho, he looked a little...off. His brain suffered something. He retired from the national team, he had depressive situations, he became addicted to smoking (he is known as a player that can't live without a pack of cigarettes/day). So i can't say for sure how he can help us. but i can now confirm that the interest is 100 % sure.

He is a mercenary, he will rather bust his head for money, for his club, rather than his nation.
