When some on here criticise Dzeko for his first touch being poor.....
Well here goes.....
1. He is a striker and must accept the way the ball is played to him. I remember on Tuesday Yaya rocketing a pass to him in the second half almost at stomach height. Not surprisingly ( two 'R's remember), Dzeko wasn't able to control it. In the lone striker role ( if that really was what he was playing on Tuesday), the player must not only be able to stop the ball however it's played to him, but also must at times, shield the ball. Oftentimes with his back to the goal.
Midfielders i think, have it a bit easier. Either they play a straight one-two or can run onto the ball. even go on mazy dribbling runs like our little god, El David and even Yaya likes to dribble.
A punt upfield from Joe is a 50-50 ball anyway and most of those passes that get peddled around in midfield and at the back are not critical passes(but make your pass completion stats look great! ), as compared to the ball being played into the oppositions box, a situation that Dzeko must deal with under pressure (usually).
2. To actually start picking holes in players when we're top of the league and doing well in most competitions so far, is unbelievable !
Sure , not everything goes perfectly to plan but we still are unbeaten in the league and but for a weak referee in the Allianz area, ( two defo pens , imo), we could have got something from it.
To say Dzeko is not in form is also a joke. I watched him play the full 90 minutes in Paris last week and he had a very good game. He had a difficult game in Bayern that's all . As has been pointed out elsewhere, at least he's always there or thereabouts when the goals are being scored as was the case on Tuesday.
Kolorov had a great game but his crosses at times were not so great either on Tuesday.,even overhit a few times (also on corners. btw, I never understand why we take outswinging corners as Kolorov does from the left side).
We've got some fantastic, really good , young , strong and talented players. We should be grateful for it. Blimey I remember seeing Franny Lee stub the pitch loads of times ( sometimes looked like a foul too )
"Well I'll go to the foot of our stairs."
