Teams go to the swamp not believing they can win or get anything out of the game. Then they capitulate, especially in the last 20 minutes. I'm hoping that state of mind might change now. Am I right to hold out such hope?

We don't really know how they'll respond to this, they're not used to it and it does raise questions. They'd been in excellent form and were managing despite the odd cracks appearing.

Like Spurs it is all well and good to have two fast wingers, but if they dont receive the ball they may as well be playing cards with someone in the crowd.
Ok they are not going to meet teams like City at present every week, but sir baconface pronounced that they would learn from the Barca defeat and come back to beat them.. he threw a lot of money away on some players, but failed to get the players that would really improve the squad. They are no better than last year and probably more vunerable.
i think if there was any kind of crisis it is going to be with Baconbonnet, he has to realise he has truly fucked up, they are in no way going to get any closer to challenging barca and have been overtaken at home by a new class of protoype merc humming along at 450 miles an hour... with loads of passengers hanging out the windows waving and laughing and having lots of fun.
if you ask me that's the crunch, the dream had been to rejuvenate his team to go and win the CL again. I just can't type that without laughing my face off.
The question perhaps should be is Ferguson finished?
If he realises that he is ( lets be honest here, that is the case ), they will collapse.
I suspect though that other teams will continue to let them off the hook at every opportunity in the Prem. The CL though is a different matter and you may see that the rest of Europe noticed this more than Prem managers.
If they go out of the CL early I rekon it is over at Swampland.

They've conceded 12 goals in the league, take away our 6 and they look very strong. The 3 goals conceded in the collapse at the dying moments is as many as they've otherwise conceded away or home (not both). Even with this thrashing, they've still had a very strong start. In isolation, they'd have been happy with these stats if offered them at the start of the season. Arsenal are bouncing back from their 8-2 defeat.
They'll play a tighter game next time and it'll be a bit harder for us. They'll be working hard on their defense. We ripped open the cracks which had been visible but ignored because of a strong winning record. They're still competing for the CL while we're still learning (fast) about playing at this level.
Best case scenario is they drop 10-15 points limping into January before splashing out on defence and midfield.
