Alan Hansen's paypacket

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Alan Hansen's paypacket

Postby Mikhail Chigorin » Mon Oct 31, 2011 6:29 pm

Just been reading today that Alan Hansen gets £1.5 million per year for his appearances on MOTD, which works out at £40,000 per 'episode'.

Good to see that licence payers are getting excellent value for money from such a knowledgeable, erudite, likeable and charismatic footballing expert.

That can't be right.

I know the BBC have made some terribly inflated pay offers but there's no way he's on £1.5Mil a year.

Good lord. That's why the license fee is so large.

When I skimmed that at first I thought it was £40,000 a year which I still thought was too much!!

It's been in several newspapers today and comments from a BBC spokesperson have been referred to as confirming that they're happy with the contract he's signed up to.

It could be a total media fabrication but the figures presented do sound a little too specific to have been completely invented.

My goodness. If correct, that's even more obscene than Hansen's miserably inflated earnings.

The expressions "gravy train" and "snouts in the trough" seem to spring to mind with regard to this whole, sorry, punditry saga.

It's a ridiculous amount of money but people have a choice as to whether they wish to subscribe to sky sports or not. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of the bbc licence fee

Quite right. I would not miss the BBC and we should have the option of paying their licence fee.

I don't believe that. Johnathan Ross wasn't on much more than that before he started making daft phonecalls.

From Gordon Taylor to Jamie Redknapp through to ex managers on Talkshite, Sky pundits It is the best paid industry to be in, and why they say a lot and say nothing, why rock the boat they are creaming off amazing amounts of dough. Hansen must be making more than when he played.

Fantastic value. We need more louche, semi-comatose, smug, drawling, out of touch, cliche-spouting, biased, pro-am-golf playing arseholes on our TV screens.

Makes it even more surprising that he feels the need to supplement his income with those Morrisons adverts.
