Thats just it Slim, this will mean that not only will all the "big" clubs go around Europe taking the best kids that they will also simply take any of the best players from the smaller clubs more than ever before. They will have to go out and push for the local lads simply to balence the books, how will the smaller clubs ever be able to stand a chance of growing.

I reckon they leaked their plans just so they could have it analysed by the experts at mancityfans instead of being found out as complete twits when they flaunted EU employment rules last time.

Pat, what exactly have them done to slow City down even a little?

City's owners got out in front of FFP and steered it where we needed it to go, all the while holding this front that we wanted this in place. Bought up English players to get around homegrown rules and this will just have City bosses looking at 15yo kids instead of paying anything for them(above compensation) when they hit 18.

Platini is the worst kind of fool, he thinks he is wise, thinks he works for a cause and never considers 3rd and 4th step consequences of his actions.

This is a restriction of trade and unless Platini advisor's have told him that these rules circum-navigate that I don't think these rules will get anywhere. It 's no wonder he is seeking approval by the majority of clubs.I think the rules fall foul of Article 39 of the EC treaty that states that 'freedom of movement for workers shall be secured within the Community' and that 'such freedom of movement shall entail the abolition of any discrimination based on nationality between workers of the Member States as regards employment, remuneration and other conditions of work and employment.

The Premier League have just recently coerced lower league clubs (by threatening to withhold TV money) into agreeing to sell their Academy players for a maximum 200k. Maybe I've got some details wrong but the principle remains.

Foresight indeed.

it's not as if the premier league is currently the best and most competitive league in the world, it clearly needs to be sorted out as its just not enjoyable at the moment
