the fact that he is 30 and has only really ever been a key player at west ham & now Spurs says it all

Hope that doesn't upset anyone.

Disagree. There's not much between them.
If KK loves his stats so much look at Spurs's records with and without Parker this season.
Besides Barry has only scored 1 goal aswell, must be equal to Parker. I mean everyone rates DM's on their goal tallies?

Players can bloom late - look at Demba Ba and his record outside the Prem compared to his record in it.

bloom late? Ok, this might be bit controversial but I'd say Parker played his best football for Charlton.

Imo Parker is a watered down Gareth Barry. Steams into more tackles & probably wins more but only because he has to; Barry has already read it & fucked off with the ball two yards earlier.

Fair enough. But I still don't see the relevance of any of the OP's arguments. Why does it matter how many goals or assists he has? He probably has the same number as Barry.

I'd agree with that, and then fucked up his career by signing for Chelsea.

It's just a stat. You could use the same one when comparing Barry & DeJong to say, Ro* Ke*** his would be higher as he had more facets to his game. If Barry & Parker don't make assists then that's part of their game which is lacking, not a neccessary failing for a player in their job. It's worth mentioning when assessing a player.

Similar to the ignorant view other teams fans have of Barry. Just because he doesn't score a lot or do anything fancy they assume he's crap. Parker like Barry does the dirty work and simple stuff exceptionally well.

What a fucking arrogant view. You think you are the only one who understand what defensive/holding midfielder does?
You know what, I played in that very same position for about a decade in very decent youth level, being inches away from getting U17 national side back in the day. Now I'm not saying I was some fucking Patrick Vieira but I DO think I have basic understanding of the demands of that position.
So fuck your stupid media recycling comments of "people don't understand what he does for the team". Football isn't complicated game really and I'm sure most people who who follow football regularily, which you would assume is the case with most people here, do understand what Gareth Barry and Scott Parker are supposed to do to their respective teams. I must've seen Scott Parker play close to 100 times in his career. I've seen him live for Charlton, Newcastle and West Ham. And I'm saying he is slitghly above average Premier League defensive midfielder. That is my OPINION. You might disagree with that, it's a game of opinions, but there's nothing ignorant about my OPINION.

I wasn't referring to you personally.
What I'm saying is a lot of my non City friends tend to think Barry is a bit shit. It's only really City fans mainly who really rate him because we watch him week in week out. He's not a spectacular player who scores great goals or defence splitting passes consistently and therefore you're not gonna watch a few games of him and think 'what a brilliant player'.
Parker likewise does that for Spurs, and just look how much they have improved since he's been in the team.
