Everyone has their own story of how they began supporting a football team, its a shame mine started off with the wrong shade of blue. I do have a slight sense of relief that i began supporting City at their lowest, just to bat away the comments i get everyday now.

Im happy that we have so many new fans. Girls look fucking ace in City strips.

I'll take gloryhunters over the "you're not utd" fans.

There are fucking 90 other league teams that aren't us or the filth, you only picked this one because it has the name Manchester in it and you hate someone or something in your life so much that you associate with the rags that this becomes the obvious choice. I hate this more now cause we are really gonna stuff em in the next few years and their choice will be validated.

You know who you are, and fuck you right back(thinking ahead).

They are all welcome, the more the merrier.... in fact they're not just welcome they are essential - Unless we attract more fans, increase revenues etc etc we will eventually be stifled by the new financial fair play stuff.

I love converting neutrals and Frogs to the Blue Church

What pissed me off is the lifelong fans bit - I remember at school in the 60s - I had moved to birmingham by then and loads of class mates suddenly started pretending they had supported Leeds since they were sperm. Then it was all scouse fans and then they all turned into life long rags - more recently - living in surrey all of a sudden every fucler in my local became a life long chelski fans - now its us.... these Walter Mitty wanabes, the ones who actually lie about their allegiance to city over the last few decades, the ones who make up shit about what their loyalty to the club - they piss me off - they piss me off a lot

Agree 100% with Patrick.

The more the merrier, absolutely. But we've been getting tons of people on this site and in real life who are all of the sudden lifelong Blues who for some reason only came out yesterday. I have all the time in the world for people who will say "I recently discovered City and now I'm trying to find out everything I can about them". I don't know why people would say they are lifelong Blues though.

I mean this site has been around for what, over ten years? I can understand that not everyone would've found this place immediately but surely somewhere along the line as a lifelong Blue you would've googled "Manchester City+message board", right?

but as i came on to this site in 2007-2008 does this mean im a NEW fan, no it means i didnt have a computer till i was 51

There is already an undertone of "I'm a bigger fan than you" running through this thread. Just because someone started using a website fairly recently is not indicative of the love they feel for their football club. I have been going for a long time. I have been to lots and lots and lots of games. I have had a season ticket for a long time. I joined this website as a result of a recommendation from a friend fairly recently. The two facts are entirely unrelated. I have friends who love the club every bit as much as I do, but don't go. It might be because of financial reasons, geography, a family situation or any of a myriad of other reasons. It does not mean I am a "better" or bigger fan than they. I have a friend who hasn't missed a game in over four years. He does not post on here simply because he doesn't want to.
The simple fact is it is now "easier" to support our club than it used to be. I remember all the shit I used to get at school from rag kids and it was awful (as I'm sure everybody else did) Kids now will never have to put up with that and so are less likely to bow to take what used to be the easy way out and end up rags. This will only snowball going forward and one and all should be welcomed with open arms. Please lets not start getting elitist and snotty about "new" fans.

I wasn't a mascot as such, it's just that we werent doing too well up until that point so they were giving away three month contracts to any kids who could beat Moonchester from the spot... Fucked it.

I honestly couldnt give a fuck why or when new people start to follow us. Sure I wouldn't have all that much respect for glory hunters but a massive proportion of Liverpool, United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Juventus etc etc fans are or became fans for exactly the same reason as we are now attracting new followers. Good football, great players and some success.

Many of us were born and lumbered with City without any conscious choice in the matter. Some others have been introduced to the club by someone else over the years and became "hooked by City" but if you ask me, if I of my own independent volition (with no outside influence) have chosen to follow City in the 1980s or 1990's or early 2000's then...like fuck I would.

Good players, good football and some success is not a bad place to start if you are looking for a team to follow and right now we fit the bill. All are welcome in my book

Absolutely.

I knew people would get the whole thing wrong way. If you are lifelong Blue then you are lifelong Blue and that's fantastic. If you discovered City yesterday and are now keen to further your education re Club then that's fantastic as well. I just hope people don't feel need to claim they are something they are not. And I'm not talking about ANY individual poster here.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

That's not what you said though. I agree with BobbyDazzler and I don't think he did get the wrong end of the stick. He was responding to the tripe you posted about people who didn't find this board years ago not being life long blues.

I mean this site has been around for what, over ten years? I can understand that not everyone would've found this place immediately but surely somewhere along the line as a lifelong Blue you would've googled "Manchester City+message board", right?

You don't half talk some shite and worse of all you have a terrible habbit of forgetting that you've posted it.
