I've been a city fan all my life.....

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I had to do a six month stint in Madrid between September 2008 and February 2009. The first time I met one lad who worked at the same place as my missus, he asked me how long I've supported City ("five minutes?") despite knowing where I was from and the fact that I was a season ticket holder. This was about a fortnight after the ADUG deal. I felt like slapping the cheeky cunt.

This kind of 'banter' is fine, but the lad posing the question was a half-Spanish cockney who supported Liverpool. His lack of self-awareness was astounding.

I couldn't give a shit what watery reasons people have for supporting any club, but his grounds for ribbing were shaky at best.

I'm a Manchester lad so I get no shite about being a so called glory hunter.

My advice to the cloggs and Ice munchers is ..adopt a Manc accent.

Problem solved.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

The simple fact is it is now "easier" to support our club than it used to be. I remember all the shit I used to get at school from rag kids and it was awful (as I'm sure everybody else did) Kids now will never have to put up with that and so are less likely to bow to take what used to be the easy way out and end up rags. This will only snowball going forward and one and all should be welcomed with open arms. Please lets not start getting elitist and snotty about "new" fans.

Stick, wrong, end of.

Absolutely.

I knew people would get the whole thing wrong way. If you are lifelong Blue then you are lifelong Blue and that's fantastic. If you discovered City yesterday and are now keen to further your education re Club then that's fantastic as well. I just hope people don't feel need to claim they are something they are not. And I'm not talking about ANY individual poster here.

That's not what you said though. I agree with BobbyDazzler and I don't think he did get the wrong end of the stick. He was responding to the tripe you posted about people who didn't find this board years ago not being life long blues.

I mean this site has been around for what, over ten years? I can understand that not everyone would've found this place immediately but surely somewhere along the line as a lifelong Blue you would've googled "Manchester City+message board", right?

You don't half talk some shite and worse of all you have a terrible habbit of forgetting that you've posted it.

You are obviously trying to stir pointless shit and see what you want to see. Taking sentences out of context to have a pointless row. Don't have time for that.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Well what is there to interpret about asking people to come in and be who they really are? I don't think there's lot to be explained unless people are looking for "I'm bigger Blue than you" kind of crap oneupmanship. And I don't think that is the case with anyone here. Certainly not with Blue living in Finland. That wouldn't make much sense.

Nice to see you're back in the game, by the way. (If you can refer to spending too much of your life on this website as 'the game' and still maintain a straight face.)

2009

First City memory was going to town to watch City's open top bus (aged 4) with the league cup. I assumed it'd always be like that!

If i'm entirely honest, it was the bit about joining the site which pissed me off (rightly or wrongly) didn't mean to cause a row tho. I can see the original posters point about just being honest, but all the blues I know are of the die hard and lifelong variety. The novelty value of someone being a glory hunter for supporting city still hasn't worn off. My apologies if I misinterpreted what you were tring to say.

it's weird innit. i actually like city an awful lot less and go a lot less than i did in 1996, and certainly less than i liked the keegan/benarbia team.

i guess that rather than being a "glory hunter" i'm a "shit-eater". or summat.

lovely semantical row going on tho. carry on.
