And to think that was the first goal in his professional career...

Rag_hater wrote:Watching stuff like that,is to me why it's called the beautiful game.
Also for me watching some of the stuff they show Zidane doing says to me that he was IMO the best player I have seen. I have not seen Messi do the kind of stuff Zidane did.Messi has scored a load of amazing goals but the rest of his game to me other people have done better whereas when in his pomp I think Zidane was the best at eveything.

If I had to choose between watching Messi, Zidane or Ronaldinho in their prime, I'd... err who was the first bloke again?

Dzeko ;)

In all seriousness Silva's ability to trap/control a ball with one touch is as good as any in world football, it's an absolute joy to watch. His goal at QPR summed him up, his first touch left three defenders for dead.
A good first touch can be the difference between a good player and a great one.

Good call.

Going back over the years, I always thought Asa Hartford's first touch and control was pretty good.

SWP is good at it aswell.
Going back a little bit from what I remember Andy Cole I think really could kill a ball dead with his first touch.
Who was better?

I hate to say it at the mo, but Carlos has a silky touch and makes fine choices when the football comes his way.

I thought it was epic when I saw that comment. I think whole crew of Starship Enterprise was giving it a facepalm to support Captain Pickard.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I suppose that considering quite a few of our fans did not like Cole using him as an example although it might have been true was a mistake and hence the facepalm jokes are understandable and to be expected, but as for not appreciating SWP abilities I am a bit shocked. My opinion and what I saw of him only enhances what I think that is right up there with some of the best.

de Jong. Most of the others are good at receiving passes, his first touch is taking the ball from an opposition player.

Mancini's touchline trap vs sunderland was pure class. 56 seconds in on the 'mancini montage' on the OS. Worth a look.
