Napoli away, club statement.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Napoli away, club statement.

Postby Surrey Sky Blue » Thu Nov 17, 2011 12:11 pm

Good to see the club taking measures for fans safety, I think they are seriously worried about safety at this particular away game.

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Club-news/20 ... apoli-trip

Supporters who are making the trip to Naples for Tuesday's Uefa Champions League tie with Napoli should be aware of advice regarding personal safety and security.
The Club and Greater Manchester Police have been working closely with the British Consulate in Naples, SSC Napoli and the Italian police to ensure the safety and security of City fans.

We are confident that supporters will enjoy their visit to Naples but ask that you read the following advice carefully.

Police suggest fans travelling independently to the Stadio San Paolo do so on a free escorted shuttle bus service that will be provided specially for City supporters.

Fans are advised to make their way to the Port area Stazione Marittima (opposite the Maschio Angioino). This is the main docking area for the cruise ships where there is a large parking area. The dock has a Shopping Mall (Galleria del Mare) and there are a few small bars and restaurants nearby.

Shuttle buses will be available from here to take City supporters to and from the stadium on match day. The policing operation in this area will begin at 13.00 hours and the buses will begin to take the supporters to the stadium from 17.00 hours onwards. We strongly advise fans to take advantage of this service.

On arrival at the stadium fans should make their way to entrance No.33, which will be signed "Manchester City supporters only". Turnstiles will open at least three hours before kick-off and fans must be able to show a form of photographic identification (ie. passport, photo driver’s licence) as well as their match ticket to gain access to the stadium.

Please note, if you do not have both you will not be allowed to enter the stadium.

Duplicate tickets will not be issued to anyone who has either lost their ticket or had it stolen. Those without tickets will not be able to purchase them on the day.

Supporters should expect to be kept behind at the end of the game for up to 45 minutes and no alcohol will be served on the day.

In general, police and consulate advice is to take care and use commonsense. Supporters should travel in groups where possible and the Consulate advises fans to steer clear of the areas around the train station, the Forcella and the Old Centre (Centro Storico).

We would also advise against wearing club colours away from the game, particularly when taking public transport.

Further advice for visitors to Italy can be found on the Foreign Office website.

We hope that fans find this information useful and all have a safe and enjoyable trip.

I dont understand how they're not just fucking banned from Europe. When other fans have to take very serious precautions to ensure they dont get stabbed whilst supporting their team, for me, somethings wrong.

So, UEFA investigate City for throwing "Missiles" AKA Paper Aeorplanes or Balls. Yet Napoli, who have a very obvious and well known histroy for their fans stabbing away fans, particularly in European Competitions, are NOT being investigated for anything - AFAIK.

I don't understand how Platini and UEFA can just sit back with this happening! If we or any other English club were to have the same reputation accross Europe that Napoli have, you can guarantee that UEFA would be screaming from the hills and would have that team kicked out of all UEFA competitions immediately.

Completely corrupt bunch of bastard cunt motherfuckers!

Safe trip to all those Blues going to this. Personally I wouldnt touch this game as an away fan with a barge pole. The place is a shothole, has a history of trouble and its a highly tense game to boot.

Exactly! It seems that people just accept, "Oh, away in Napoli. Just got to keep our wits about us, because I don't want to be one of the fans who are stabbed in the arse."

It's disgraceful that it's accepted and it's even more disgraceful that the Napoli fans are known for stabbing people in the back/arse. bunch of gutless cowards who should be no where near the beautiful game.

Like I said..you can't punish a team if someone happens to get stabbed in the same city they play in..we all know it's football related but proving it would be another matter

For once I agree with you. What hasn't been made clear in the club's statement is who exactly organised the shuttle, though. Was it us, Napoli's city council (or equivalent), the police, the consulate, or SSC Napoli? Finding that out would be one step further in seeing who is actually making an effort to reduce the threat to fans.

If it's proven to be football related then Italian football should suffer as a consequence (sp)

It could be strongly implied - we hear of the football related incidents every time there's a European tie there - it would be interesting to know how many incidents there are when there's no football on.

I think if you plotted out all the arse stabbings in Napoli, a pattern would emerge quite quickly: away fan for a football match is isolated and bum-shived. After a certain point the city should be held accountable, but it ain't gonna happen.

They shouldn't be allowed to hide behind technicalities to get away with bullshit. Like in the US if you shoot someone below the waste it's assault, but if you shoot them above the waist it's attempted murder. Just because an Ultra stabs a fan 1/4 mile from the stadium shouldn't mean you can't prove it's football related.

Kabul FC is no trip to paradise.

England fans riot in town square they're England fans. Napoli fans repeatedly stab people and who knows where they're from.
