Now that is the most mind-boggling/clueless statement I've read on here in awhile.

1. He may have supposedly been doing it before bob got here but not during.
2. What Bob wants from his players now isn't the same as what he wanted a year ago (set the foundation then build going forward)
3. Why would you think that was the case if Bob locked him out?
4. That wasn't the case

I recon he did exactly what Bob asks our forward players to do now & did it whilst Bob was here. The other forwards & wide midfielders are gradually learning to do what Bellamy already did. I recon pretty much all of our best performances that season were heavily influenced by him & most of our best goals/moments of the season involved him & if Bob had wanted him to refine his play in any way, all he would have to do is tell him. Simple.

He wasn't kicked out for football reasons.

Ted...after a comment that Bob made a while back, it would seem he was transferred because Bob didn't want a player that could only play now and again...I think it is that simple and is fair enough imo.

As much as I love Mancini, complete bollocks.

Doesn't want a part timer yet he signed Vieira and Hargreaves? Both quality players for sure, but neither were or will be cracking 60 games a season.

I think that was a bit of a cover story because the 1st argument came about through Bob changing his fitness routine & basically getting it wrong & cocking him up. Perhaps he thought Bellamy was taking the piss or something but he was just trying to keep fit.

Bob has recently signed Owen Hargreaves, so having an empty space in the squad last season & then complaining about lack of bodies rather than occasionally using Bellamy, doesn't add up.

Whatever the reasons, we got away with it but I can't accept it when people knock him for his football; he was superb.

There is a difference between being superb as an individual and being part of a winning team (tactics, positioning, mental decisions, discipline). Bellamy had the first, but Bob decided he couldn't cut it for the 2nd. Hargreaves and Vieira are the epitome of the 2nd.

Please point to examples to back up your point about Bellamy not being a team player. And proof that he is a superb individual is not proof he isn't a team player. Absence of proof is not proof of absence and all that.

Hargreaves & Vieira are centre midfield playes. If someone tells me Balotelli, AJ, Dzeko & Jo were better team players last season than Bellamy I'd say horseshit.

He's more or less saying that Benitez' counter attacking style didn't suit him and that Kenny's free flowing football does.

I do believe that was the crux of the problem between him and Mancini. I tend to agree with what Bigblue is saying that Bellamy despite being an excellent player and one hell of a grafter hasn't got the discipline to play comfortably in a strictly drilled team. Essentially he wouldn't do what Mancini asked of him. Just my opinion.

That's my take with most of the players that have left or been sidelined, basically couldn't or wouldn't do what was needed to create what we are seeing now.
Some say that some players didn't get a chance, but that is only in games, Mancini and the staff are assessing what they see in training and if someone doesn't do it in training it is somewhat unlikely they will suddenly do what he wants in a game.
Jo..well he was just what was left and at least tried to do what was asked. Truth be told though he was really just making up numbers tbh we may as well have played with 10 players on the whole.

I recon Bellamy was already doing exactly what Bob wants such players to do now, before Bob even got here.

I rekon you'd be mistaken then on that one.

After Bellamy left Jo was part of our squad for 3 months than dropped off the face of the earth. Balo, AJ, & Dzeko all had orders of magnitude more potential than Bellamy. Some of the best young/middle aged players in the world vs. a good but aging player with dodgy knees who couldn't train every day.... Can't teach an old dog new tricks, especially if that old dog can't run to learn the tricks

What a well thought out and reasoned argument you got there Slim. Spoken so eloquently as always. I see your point, but don't know if I agree.

By an "out" do you mean a misguided opinion?

While I was quoting you, I was addressing Ted.

You did exactly what I would have expected and avoided answering my original question once Ted gave you the out of comparing him to other players. It wasn't your original point, but fuck he made it damn convenient for you.

Ah I see now -
but I don't think the problem with Bellamy was being a team player (playing hard for your teammates). I think its that he wasn't a Mancini player (doing what Mancini asked). And when I said earlier "being part of a winning team" that means every playing doing their job (what the coach asks) at all times. It's a slight, but crucial difference
