why are we too good for the europa league?
the fact is we we are not the champions therefore in my opinion should not be in the champiuons league. and untill we are good enough to be champions and compete in the champions league then i think the europa is good enough for us.
i think you are one of them people who just listen to the "big 4" media suckers. how do people expect us to go straight into the champs league and win it??

Where did I say I thought we should have won the CL? What I said was that UEFA has ruined the UEFA cup, especially. Ow with the ridiculous group stages. No one cares who wins it apart from the two teams in the final. It's worth virtually nothing financially or in terms of prestige.

I was annoyed last season that we didn't take the Carling Cup more seriously but I really couldn't care less about the Europa. On top of that, the long trips and numerous games will have a toll on our PL campaign. Play the kids and see how they do, but I wouldn't want to see any of the first 16 anywhere near it

Fulham earned 10 mill last year for second place.
Premiership winners get c16mill

We're guaranteed 22.5 mill from Champs League even if we don't qualify for the last 16
Scum made another 23.5 getting to last years final
If we drop then win itl we'd see 4.2m in prize money alone.
We'd be down half a Tevez

Better chance of winning 3 or 4 trophies if we do drop down
It would take only two more games to win it
Cyprus is further away than Moscow

We don't have a first 16, we have a first 22
If we drop out we'll be back in the Champs League next year and better prepared.
What's the hurry
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.

Thinking about last night i hope Kenny Dalglish wasnt watching too much of the game as his front three of Suarez,Kuyt and Bellamy could quite easily play like that against us on Sunday.

We need to find a way of keeping teams like that contained.

Good point on that. Being more careful with the ball and not giving it away cheaply - yes you Mr De Jong - from inside our own half will be a start.

Liverpool will be a tough game now, thankfully we can shuffle the pack a bit and Id expect/pray/hope that Aguero, Richards, Clichy, Barry and Nasri will figure on sunday. Thought Nasri used the ball intelligently when he came on last night.

It was a typical "in or out" game and we lose it very, very badly! A good 1st half then the worst beginning of 2nd half I ever remember in my life! Bobby Manc please, how could you forget El Khun Aguero for all those minutes? Maybe he would have replaced Dzeko or anybody else before and a draw should have been secured easily for me! Europa cup and a new series of boring Thursday games again, oh what a tragedy!
From Torino, Italia to Manchester, Lancashire this City is always our City!

Still can't get over the late show from Bobby with Aguero.

The more I think about it the more baffling it is. On par with Kolo starting in Munich for me.

What he was seeing in Dzeko's play to keep him on for as long as he did was lost on me.

You're right - you probably will be on your own. The Europa is now a rubbish competition - goes on forever, devalued by CL rejects joining in etc. pity as the old UEFA cup was a better competition than the European Cup due to the strength of the teams in it but they're all now in the CL.

I'd prefer to be out of the Europa ASAP, partly to avoid having to go to a load of games I'm not interested in

This is my feeling, too. While the Champions League has become hugely popular, giving competing teams a guaranteed minimum of six matches full of glamour (well, that's the idea anyway), its little brother the Europa League is just an annoying pain in the arse you can't seem to get rid of. The old UEFA Cup and Cup Winners Cup were great competitions in their own right, with clubs and players proud to take part, whereas this dog's dinner feels like the World Cup third-fourth place play-off. No one is interested.

Absolutely arrogant and disgraceful comments from those on here about Europa. 5 years ago we could only dream of being in that competition. How filthy were we that Blobby's missed penalty cost us a place in that comp? I'll tell you. Were were absolutely gutted.

We have a big squad and we can handle it. Yes we could blood the odd young un. Even so, it's a trophy up for grabs and if we win it we could feature in the Supercup. Hey, we could even face the rags in the comp yet.

Nothing arrogant, it's a shite competition. Like the Carling Cup. Both increasingly devaluing as the years roll by.

The Champion League is an adventure this year. Winning the Premier League is everything for me, absolutely everything. Then we defend our FA Cup. Sod the Europa League and Carling Cup.
After the ball was centred, after the whistle blew...

Sensible points, Dazby, but personally I really can't muster the necessary enthusiasm. I'm still at the mourning stage.

Nah you ain't on your own, IF we have to go into it we should go,all out to win it, we have a big enough squad to do so. It's not like we can suddenly be picky about which European competition we want to add to our vast list of 1 european trophies so far.

I think it's arrogant of you to deny the EDS lads (or some of them) a chance at actual meaningful European football when we will need our full squad (and maybe more) to defend our league position and our FA cup - bearing in mind the EDS lads are out of the Nextgen league thingie after using it to 'blood' academy players of all age groups. Who are you to say they can't step up and do us proud?

Didn't know this until now- dire attitude by the club if true, and we don't deserve to be invited next year. Just checked the results, and we're the only team in the competition to have failed to pick up any points in the group stages.

It's irrelevant about the Europa anyway, as once Kolo & savic are paired againt any half decent strike force we'll get fucking slaughtered.

The mindset, the mentality of some of the fans on here needs to change too.

Whatever competition we enter, I want City to win it. So, by that means if we end up in the Europa league, i expect City
to go and try to win it.

I was a bit miffed that we dropped those two points at Fulham.

It's exactly the reason why we can't tolerate United fans, yea a Mickey Mouse cup ( oringinally their words).
What nonsense !

We should aim to beat München too, just like I want City to tonk Liverpool and Arsenal in the next two games.
We are good enough to beat both of them.
