3 blind mice

Postby bigblue » Sat Dec 03, 2011 11:30 pm

After seeing the highlights of games this season -

is this the worst groups of refs in the premier league ever? Almost 50% of games seems to have some major decision where the refs cocked it up. I know being an official can be tough, but they're surely joking with some of these decisions. consistently appalling

have not seen todays decisions yet but I thought the refs so far this season have been decent, especially the linesmen who have got most offside decisions right. take hernandez at the swamp against newcastle, a weaker linesman or ref would have given it

Atwell had an awful game today (Spurs v Bolton)....didnt award at least 2 clear penalties and then gave some other dodgy decisions.

I'm stuck between thinking it's bad quality refereeing, or just a combination of the extremely fast speed of play that makes it hard for the refs to keep up and replays from every angel that let us scrutinize them more than ever. But having said that, recently it been the case more than not that bad decisions are talked about having a major effect on games

Poor old SWP might disagree after that bad one yesterday cancelled out his effort.

I still haven't seen the Luis incident yet,( waiting for motd this morning) but, i'm really glad that he is available to play against us next week. The guy is an absolute disaster waiting to happen. If they(chelsea) persist in the high line defense, we'll pick them off very easily.

The next game is the one i'm really looking forward to. United hammer Arsenal, they are called brilliant by the media, Chelsea should have tonked United at OT, united brilliant says the media. City haven't met any top teams yet. Well after next weeks games we'll know exactly what we have to do. We've got max points from spurs and utd away, so three more from Chelsea will be very nice thank you. Securing the magic 40 points, for next years planning of purchases !

As for the three blind mice, thanks for allowing Luis to be available next week!

I also think the refs have been quite poor this year, i mean, city have been given some really laughable yellow cards ,leading to the disgracefull sending off of Mario last week.

That decision to send Cahill off was beyond ridiculous.

He's not able to play against us mate, he got a 5th yellow for that foul which was clearly a straight red. The question is, why, if he is the last man when he brought a player down when that player would've clearly got the ball, did he not receive a red card? Whereas, in the Spurs game, Cahill, 40 yards from goal with a covering player gets a straight red after bringing the player down. How is 40 yards from goal with a covering player a straight red?

You only have to look at some of our recent games to see how bad the refereeing has been from a City point of view. Ridiculous yellow cards and then, as you say, the strange sending off of Mario because he's got strange hair, Poll's view, not mine.

As someone pointed out last week, I have a real belief that certain clubs will always have the 12th man in their corner, making decisions pre-set by the powers that be. It cannot just be coincidence that the Premier Leagues (who the referee's answer to, not the FA or any other independent body) Lovee's always seem to get the majority of the decisions and that on many occasions, change the course of the game.

I think your point about replays and there being more angels covered is the main reason.Where we can see things many times its easisr for us to spot any mistake the ref makes.I think refs have always been shit exept now it can be proved a lot easier.

When i saw what Mike Dean did in that moment with David Luiz, my mind went back to the same situation in our last year's game with Arse, at home, where Clattenburg sent off Boyata in the 3th minute for a same situation. If he would had sent off Luiz, imho Chelsea would had lost that game.
