If spurs win their game in hand, they'll be in 2nd and 4 pts back from us. And after winning 10 of the last 11 and paying very good football, I'd say a comparison isn't far off. They don't have as many big name players and aren't running up the score as much but they do deserve credit

No question they deserve credit & are playing very well but Hansen described their performance v 10 man Bolton as : "as good as it gets ". No it isn't. Beating 11 man spurs 5-1 on their own ground is 'as good as it gets '. There is no comparison.

Twitchy Bolloks is playing the same team just about every game..no way will they be able to keep that up and will expect them to get injuries or burn out.......4th spot is as "good as it will get for them".
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

I don't feel as certain that will be the case. It should make it tough for them but they aren't in the CC and look like not even in the Europa so that's a bundle of games less that they have.

I agree with Ted though that it was as if Bolton were a top side and had 14 men on the field the way MotD were going on about them. They must have some strong sides to play soon.

I don't like Spurs and never have but they're winning every week and playing some outstanding football. Just because the media have unfairly lavished them with praise over the years doesn't mean they shouldn't be praised when it's actually justifiable. The good thing from our perspective is we're even better, though.

Last season I used to watch spurs and thing, man I wish we played good flowing attacking football like that. This year when I see spurs I think man, I am glad we don't play at that level.

We have been WAY better both in build-up play, and finishing IMO. All the chances Ade burned a few weeks ago when he got two he should have had four atleast. We also look more solid defensively and have looked so using a multitude of players.

When that is said Tottenham have done well but as have allready been mentioned alot of teams can look great the first few months but fall apart when the congestion of fixtures set in around christmas/jan. and injuries starts taking its toll.

Look at Newcastle, have now both central defenders out and lost pretty clearly to a just average Chelsea side after losing them. Will be very interesting to see if they can keep up their great run with one or both of them sidelined. I bet not.

Still, the league is far from won and we'll have to be on our toes and give 100% (and have some luck) to win this thing. But I believe we are the team with the biggest chance if our psyche can hold.

In regard to Spurs while playing well they are still fragile as a squad. Injuries to Ade or VDV, less so Modric or Bale and they wouldn't be the force they are now. However the main point to look at is who they have played and when.

Since getting thrashed 1-5 by us they have
beat Wolves away - who were playing total shite.
beat Scouce at home - who were playing total shite.
beat Wigan away - who were playing total shite.
beat Arsenal at home - who were playing dodgy to shite.
drew at Toon - decent result.
beat Blackburn away - who were playing total shite.
beat QPR at home - no great shakes really.
beat Fulham away - maybe the only good result!
beat Villa at home -who were playing shite.
beat Brom away - who were playing less well.
beat Bolton at home - who were playing total shite.

So while they are getting results you have to read between the lines here, unexpected results v scouce and Arse are tempered by the fact that both those teams were struggling. The rest well most of those games are v the worst performing teams in the league.

Spurs fans and the media are just deluding themselves about title chances, yes they are better than most of the teams in the league. They still wont beat the rags even at whl, they play us on Jan 22nd lets see what happens then. Have to play Chelsea twice, go to Anfield, Stoke, Emirates and Goodison.

Cannot for the life of me seeing them keep it up, for starters they will come back down to earth when they come to the Etihad.

They've been at it again on the hack's show this morning & they're doing it right now on the radio.

Once again, whilst giving Spurs full credit for playing good football & winning, how the fuck is their performance or their football, better or even close to being as good as ours even on the same MOTD programme ? How is Bale legging it down the wing & wellying in a cross, better that the goal that Balotelli scored for instance? What about AJ's finish ? Yaya Toure's ? Aguero's ? What about the ones that didn't go in ? They're going on about Adebayor 'closing down' is he doing it better than Aguero ?

Like I said; credit where it's due, fair enough. That should apply to us, we are playing better football.

According to Pardew on goals on Sunday, Spuds are playing better football than us!

This just stinks of the Harry Redknapp club, all his cronies banding together.

We were only saying a while back how everyone would be kissing our arses if we played like this & were Spurs or rags. This is the proof. It's ridiculous.

Well they have to come to us on the 22nd Jan. So let's just wait and see what all these fuclers have to say after that.

Imo one of the reasons that they never beat the rags is that Spurs rely on getting the ball to the wide players.. so that comes down to distribution from the midfield. The rags know that they dont have a valid plan B, they also know how to stop that kind of play, cos the rags can play that way too. Just like City did at WHL they just turn off the tap and watch Spurs squirm as they struggle to get momentum going and have to do their least favourite thing - look to their defensive discipline first.
It works every fucling time.
The CL game v Milan proves the point for me, the only reason Milan fucked up was at 3-0 up they just stopped doing the work of closing the distribution off, which they had been doing. They allowed Spurs to play their one and only game and found themselves in trouble too quickly to react. It wasn't Spurs suddenly getting good or their shit together, it was all about Milan not doing what they had been doing and slacking off.
Stop their distribution players and they have very few answers. Mancini will do that again and so will baconface.

To be fair, almost doing as well as us points wise is a decent effort considering how much better our team is on a per player basis. Still I can only find two explanations for the wankfest over spurs and ignorance of our game.

1) They are used to us smashing everyone so when we do it is just as expected
2) They are impressed over what Tottenham is doing with a much smaller and not as good squad

As any team doing better than they should the first half of the season like Newcastle the illusion will be destroyed when they get 2-3 key injuries, a drop in form and fixture congestion. No worries, they'll start dropping points at home to shit teams soon enough like they did last season.
