I am surprised no one else has said this yet but I would have preferred them to go through tonight if we were going out.

They are no where near good enough to win the CL this year so it would have just delayed the agony for them. A few more games of them resting players in the league and playing tough games during the week whilst we are fielding out B team in the Europa league would have suited me down to the ground

I desperately want to win the league this year. The CL will take time and I am willing to wait. The only silver lining for me would have been if we had been handed an advantage in the league.

That would have made sense in years gone by, but I'm afraid everyone needs to let go of their fear of the idea the rags are going to hang on in there and come back to haunt us. They aren't, they are actually pretty crap team living beyond their means. Early bath will hurt them more than just pride this time.. and right from the top down. The confidence will start to wane now, the press will get on the case and real cracks will start to open up. Do they play West Brom soon? Someone like that beating them will open the floodgates.

Going out at this stage for them is one of the unthinkables.. this will dent them as much as we did in the Derby.

The reaction goes from the top down. What did Taggart say, 'Never been in the Europa, it's a punishment for not getting into the knockout stage', or words to that effect. That's the attitude of all the Rag fuckers, it's from the top down.

Evra's reaction after the game:

"Even if it is a friendly, when I pull on United shirt I do my best to win that trophy. But it is embarrassing to be in the Europa League. I play for Manchester United to play in the Champions League but some players dream of playing for United in any competition and you have to respect that"

seems he doesn't fancy the europa league too much

It might be funny for us but at a time of crisis in the Greek economy, Apoel Nicosia will lose a fucking fortune because of this.

City v rags (or Stoke) in the Europa final.
"Bucharest, Bucharest, we are coming!" not quite as catchy as Istanbul, though.

Like this post from an Untied fan on the Guardian....

United should take a look at Barcelona, played basically a B team against Bate last night and destroyed them, we play basically full strength this week and lose embarassingly to Basle, last week we play our "B" team and Crystal Palace deservedly beat us. I feel for Fergie's mental health if he thinks we've closed the gap on Barca, inevitable defeat to City in the FA cup will more than likely consign us to relying on the Europa league for silverware, oh fuck City are in that too.

They're really enjoying life at the moment, he doesn't even mention the Prem!

I haven't read much but they are already saying some dumb shit things. Senior players and Baconface all showing their utter devestation. Not a good idea that and it will have already infected them. Losing and going out was bad, making the kind of public noises they have is like writing out a suicide note in public. Big fuck up followed by even bigger fuck up.

Contrast Mancini's careful summary.. made mistakes, looking forward and looking to improve.

Bring on the Fa Cup.
