we have won more points than the rags...still we're out.

well, fuck it.

On a more positive note, Samir is getting better.

In a far superior group ..... but that's no consolation, I'm still disappointed. However, we know where the priorities lie and know where we need to be. Bayern and Napoli played very well during these group stages and we were unlucky to get drawn in such a strong group. We did well and have now proved that we can go head-to-head with the big teams.

I'm more than happy with most of our play and have to admit that I didn't believe it to be such a hard group. I was wrong.

I smell a rat. Very soft red for a Zagreb player in the first half.
Probably unrelated, but Ajax had two goals wrongly disallowed for off side in the first half as well...

Just saw the highlights, those 2 disallowed goals were atrocious. Awful.
Although, even it they had lost 3-2 instead of 3-0 Lyon still wouldve progressed on GD

Strange how the other groups panned out. Arsenal & Chelsea topped their groups with 11 points Inter with 10 and Apoel (who ?) with 9 ! Our10 points are only good enough for Europa !
Scum going out also makes tonight a bit easier to take but not by much. Oh well, I suppose we'll have to settle for winning the Europa. Strange how times have changed !

Fair play to Napoli, they deserved it. An excellent display by us and a fully deserved win. I have to admit late in the second half I was focussing more on other results than our game. I thought Savic was our real weak link in the game. Great to see Sammynaz step it up. That's two games straight now.

Europa here we come. The rags joining us makes it bearable. How on earth did they not get out of that group. Maybe they really are as shit as I think they are.

Savic actually saved us from going 1 -0 down in the first half with a last minute challenge.

Mate did you watch the game, Savic was one of the best tonight, if you consider his age and game experience he was great!!!

Got a feeling we will win it next time. Losing made us a better team sometimes. We lost at the Community Shields after being 2-0 up against the rags and nobody expected us to win at OldTrafford afterwards. We became a better team and we are still learning and making mistakes along the way. Well done lads, you played with great confidence and authority.

I'm not sure about all this Savic love, OK yes, very good, no. Our defensive set-up after they opened us up became better and the team worked well. I'd say that Savic's early play forced us into a Chelsea'esque (from last night) type of play.

Savic got shunted onto the left swapping with Clichy fairly early in the first half because they were all over the right side, Im not sure if they altered things a bit to respond to something Bayern were doing, but Savic was back on the right not long after and we looked a lot more solid and balanced.

All in all I've enjoyed the Champions League. Its been better playing tougher games even if it has meant we've gone out!

I'd resigned myself to Napoli winning a few weeks ago and have spent the last few weeks mentioning to any filth that used 'the going out of europe' lark telling them that we were gonna beat them in the Europa League final, work should be interesting tomorrow!

Thought we played terrific tonight. Its just a shame that I will associate the champions league campaign with Manicni putting out the wrong team in all 3 games where we dropped points as to specific moment where we were actually undone!

I'm gonna enjoy the Europa League as we've given ourselves the best chance to winning by bypassing the group stage

2-0 win over Munich, good performance, can't complain.

Shame that we're out of the CL, but we went out with 10 points and in a really tough group. When we needed a performance, there was one, and that bodes well for next time.

He was ok. Bayern targetted him and got some joy. He had to be swapped for relief.

It will have been a great experience for him and he was part of a clean sheet, but he was our weak link. Considering the rest of our side that's hardly a surprise though is it?
