Away fans.

The away fans need to be down on ground level next to the City fans in South stand/110 extra. No atmosphere tonight as there was zero banter.

Its just not the same when you havent got some fatty to take the piss out of or some bloke in a pink shirt. City really need to re-think this as it just didnt work this evening.

Theres barely an atmosphere in league games when they are down near us, both the singing section and south stand are getting quieter and quieter.

I suspect it could be partly due to seeing fresh faces appearing all around.

I even heard some fat gobby turd a few rows back confusing the words of big fat bob and super kev a few months go.

There was no banter in the third tier to be honest. Just the odd dick hard making tired anti-german jokes.

Also the crush for a piss at half time was a fucking joke!

It's not only due to the away fans not being there but also to do with the supporters who take their place. Most of them decide to move to check out the atmosphere, not make it.

I agree that it doesn't work but I don't think the scenario of knowing that even if we won we were likely going out helped matters.

Everyone seemed to be waiting for the inevitable news that Napoli had scored and when it finally came through it went flatter than a witches tit.

I think we should move the away fans upstairs. I think it would help to have us running at an end full of noise ( which given time it would be ). That end full of blues could make alot of noise and selling season tickets in a safe standing noisy end would make the singers move round.

I'm all for it. I'm in 118 and not sat down in about 3 or 4 years so we are a safe standing section

I thought the atmosphere was good considering it's a group game & we were always likely to go out. I thought the atmosphere v Napoli was lousy.

Don't understand why some fans can't back our team rather than watching the oppo. Never used to be a problem in any grounds. Fans usd to sing about their own team & a small number of hooligans used to go & mither the away fans, often at the opposite end or side of the ground from the singing section. Most of the Kippax couldn't see any of the away fans. The Kops at scouse, Leeds, Stretford End, Holt Road pretty much everywhere, was at the opposite end to away fans.

Why has this become neccessary to some people in order to support City ?

the away fans made a real effort to create an atmosphere, we just sat and watched, very poor and agree we need the away fans in the south stand but would prefer them in the top tier

We need to sort out the noise levels at our own ground, very quiet and we hardly had that at Maine Road. This is the best time to be a blue so lets enjoy it.

I don't think atmosphere can just be created overnight. Moving the away fans is definitely a step in the right direction, but could maybe think of moving them round the corner (not sure of the block number, the first block or so in the East Stand). They would still be close to the singing section but it would let us have the whole of the South Stand. The fans that are there at the min are pretty noisy anyway so would be more likely to be happier with being moved into the South Stand than the fans who sit in the top tier.

We'd have to give it a proper trial tho as people need to get used to the new faces etc

Our own fans are getting quieter and quieter regardless of when the away fans have been next to us or not.

There is practically no enthusiasm for singing or doing the Poznan anymore.

I'm in 111 and it is mega where I am. Everyone on there feet , top banter with away fans and where all the new songs start. Since we moved stadium I have had a seasoncard in every stand and I can honestly say nothing touches 111. Although south stand wasn't too bad. If they move the away fans it will fall on it's arse big time. It's up to the rest of the ground to start getting louder. But I think it is getting better . Starting to see the family stand doing the Poznan . I took my son aged 6 to a few games last season. He loved it. Stood on his seat going wild. Propper buzzed on it, in 111. Couldn't get enough of it. Then one game my dad had a spare in east level 3 . After the game I asked my lad if he had a good time. He said," nah I was bored" he played a game on my sisters iPhone. He said ," dad I wanna watch where u are next time". Everyone in these other stands need to step up if we want a better atmosphere. Either that or everyone who want the banter, get as close to 111 as possible. The answer ain't moving the away fans

Don’t you think football has changed though?? I can remember being on the kippax and the atmosphere being great without the interaction with away fans but I think the introduction of all seater stadiums and the change in clientele at football has made it harder to generate anything near the good old day’s atmosphere wise.

I sit in 110 next to the away fans and the banter at some games is brilliant and adds to my enjoyment of the game and I reckon if you speak to fans in these sections they will agree. I think moving the fans onto tier three last night spoilt any kind of atmosphere. I think maybe they should look at sticking the away fans down the side of one of the stands as I think sticking them up in the gods will kill the atmosphere all together.

I don’t see why people are so against banter with away fans, isn’t this a huge part of football and part of the fun. Just think it if wasn’t for away fans we would have not got to see the Poznan!!

You are sayng there will be no atmosphere if the away fans are moved from next to where you lot are standing, then you are saying it's up to the rest of the ground to start getting louder. There are no away fans next to people in the other areas of the ground.

Ratings for the stands.IMHO

Colin Bell Stand 0
North stand 3
East stand 5 Lower level close to away fans 8
South Stand 7

Last night and pretty much every home game 3 until we score then a 5 if we are on top 7.

The Russ Abbot at City IMHO is crap Nothing personal just a very poor effort from at least 75% of the fans. who lets be honest 50% are doing one after 75 mins, regardless of the opposition/score or the game.

I am saying that is the best part of the ground. So don't change it. If people don't like the atmosphere, do something about it. As in either start singing where they are or get closer to this section. If people do this, this section will become bigger and bigger.

Part of the reson is the acoustics of the ground. Where I'm sat, at the other end of the East Stand, our fans sound crap unless they're going flat out & the away fans don't sound very loud either but it's more than that. Poznan & to a lesser extent the Greeks are the only loud fans I've heard with a few bursts of Delilah from Stoke when they first got promoted. Most fans are crap. It's only when City are attacking our end that it feels as if you are in the same ground. Then, the atmosphere is fine. Not much singing but loads of support, everyone cheering the team on etc. That's all you can expect from most average people in any ground; they cheer on the team & join in some of the songs.

The problem is; those somgs are usually started in any ground by the singing section. Our singing section is fucking crap. It usd to be great at Maine Rd but now, it's a bunch of people with few original song ideas, who disappear when the game is quiet.

If the singing section was any good & could come up with a few loud half decent songs, the old gadgies, kids etc in the rest of the ground would join in & usually do.

That wouldn't be fair as the people who sit there have bought tickets to watch the match, not stand up. All those people who want to stand & sing are being offered the chance to create atmosphere & have their own 'end' but don't want it because they'd rather shout at fat geordies. That's the problem. In the old days we used to get together & sing about City.

TBF comparing the old Kippax standing and the mecano version being pissed did help things along, maybe the beer is doctored. Is it now not cool to sing and shout, the other 25% of fans are texting BTW.
