I think mine was around 1988 ish, Birmingham at home, 0-0. Boring but I was addicted.

2nd Game, 2-2 vs Shewsbury Town, Hinchcliffee scored 2, a pen and a direct corner from memory.

Started supporting City around 1973-74 season, first game attended (like all good gloryhunters) was the 1976 League cup final ..

I went to a few games in 76 but got my first season ticket in 77-78 season, had to stop going when I left school as worked for years in retail management so not allowed wekends off work, went to a few KK matches, been going regular again since the glory days of Stuart Pearce. Could never follow any other team

That Shrewsbury game was my first and Hinchcliffe defo scored direct from a corner.

I'd love to know more about that game, exact date, line ups, attendance etc etc but my on line searches have proved unsuccessful.

There's another poster on here whose first game was also the shrewsbury one. Cant remember who it was but it came up the last time this was discussed.

Saw the famous side in the title winning season but no idea how many games or who against. Totally forgotton most of that period yet have vivid memories of certain bits of play, especially Colin Bell. I remember being taken to the reserves 1st of all & I was like Bart Simpson; " Is that Colin Bell ? " " no " " Is that Colin Bell ?" " no " " Is that Franny Lee ? " " no ".

I don't remember whether my first game was in the late 50's or early 60's but I do remember being left at my aunties on Parkside Rd when my parents went off to the games. As a real nipper I was into the local park and listening to the roars to guess at the score.Reserve games would have been the first games I saw at Maine Road.

And all that even though I was born on Warwick Rd South in Stretford but even though surrounded by rags I was lucky to be in a blue family.

First real link to City was the 1956 Cup Final, when I was 6 and I followed my Dad to my Uncle's house. My Uncle had a telly. It was a huge cabinet that had a laptop sized screen. Vaguely, I remember City winning and something about Trautmann being hurt and it being serious.
The second link was some time after, my Dad took me to Maine Road to watch England Schoolboys versus Germany Schoolboys. Underneath that Maine Stand was like another world, passageways, doors and stairs going in every direction. My first trip to the "Grand Old Lady" was in a Granelli's ice cream van.
My best mate at school was Edgy and his Dad took me to my 1st City game. City versus City reserves 195?. A tanner in the roofless Scoreboard End and my 1st sight of Bert Trautmann in the flesh. I lost touch with Edgy in the early 1960s and never saw him again until the end of last season, when this bloke tapped me on the shoulder outside the Townley. It was him.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT

Good story that, John, I'd be glad to have a similar reunion with lads from school but most of my lot were either Swinton RLFC, as i was, or United. First City game I saw was the 1955 final on telly followed by Wembley itself the following year, on the train with my dad & uncles. Didn't get to a home game till November of the next season as Swinton R.L. was walking distance and Maine Road meant two buses.

My first game I saw live was at white hart lane.my old man took me in 1990 I think,we stood in the spurs end behind the goal we won 1-0 and Quinn scored at the other end.biggest lasting memory will be a rather large mancunian stood right behind Eric torsveds goal screaming abuse and telling him in very colourful language what he had been up to with his mum and mrs.
I was thirteen and have loved city ever since, wouldnt change it for the world.

Can I just ask a few of the posters on here - when we moved to Maine Rd was there loads of people complaining that the atmosphere wasn't as good as at Hyde Rd, or is it just an Etihad thing?

Forever really, the whole family are blues, just the odd rogue wanker rag. First game as Nov 11th 1966, Stoke away, we won 1-0 and the scorer was the one and only ( and still the best player I have ever seen) Colin Bell.

Started going to matches regularly aged 7 ( 72-73 Season). One of the first games I can remember was a 4-3 home win v West Ham,
main thing I remember was getting Bobby Moore's Autograph.

77/78 Season vLiecester a boring 0-0 draw but i was stood on the Kippax and hooked on City from that moment.I used to go to Boundary Park with my Dad before i lost my City cherry the comparisons pale into insignificance.
