I think there's a serious problem when someone is paid to give an impartial view of things, but instead decide to use their past to be anything but impartial. When Summerbee was on SkySports after the Derby last year, quite a lot of people were saying it was 'embarrassing' or 'cringe worthy' to see him giving a one sided view. I think we are more than right to be a bit pissed off if we pay for a certain package on Sky and we don't get what we want.

Ray Wilkins embarrassed himself last night. And I could sit here and call him any name under the sun, eg. 'Biased Baldy', but it's not going to change anything. I think it was quite clear to everyone, not just City fans what he did last night. If you take someone like G. Neville for example, as someone has said he was probably jumping for joy when Fat Lamps scored that pen. But when the cameras were on he was impartial and fair. Which is what he is paid to do. He's still a cunt but that's nothing new.

What makes the experience of watching a match on Sky worse though, is because of the commentators one sided-ness, you don't get to see replays of incidents that could/should have gone your way. They showed a quick reply of the Silva penalty and then didn't mention it. That's disgusting.

If you compare that to boxing commentary on Sky for example, boxing is far more impartial. Amir Khan was fighting this weekend and the British commentator (Jim Watt??) was saying it how it was. He didn't try and stick up for one fighter just because they were British.

Sky need to do something about it, but they won't.

I like Festa but his commentary when it's Chelsea is diabolical, and that's against any club, not just ours. It's good to support a team but you can't do it when you are supposed to be giving impartial commentary. When he slips into the 'We' mode, that's the point when it really grates, as if he's still down on the sideline.

I just wonder if Sky do this on purpose to give their Chelsea contingent a better experience, just like the Rags being able to see Neville week-in, week-out? Look at it this way, the main commentators/pundits on Sky are Jamie Redknapp (Liverpoool/Spurs), Gary Neville (United), Alan Smith (Arsenal) and Ray Wilkins (Chelsea, United and QPR), do you think Sky picked these individuals out of a hat or they were specifically targeted for their allegencies? Where's the Stoke, Bolton, Villa or Everton representatives?

Edit: Just read that Mase, decent post mate and very similar thoughts to my own.

Even when he isn't being incredibly biased he commentates as though he is talking a classroom of 6 year-olds through watching their first ever football match.

Patronising fucler.

Or women. You're spot on though. I guess that's the audience Sky are targeting now to expand their demographic. And there's nothing wrong with that as long the only other option isn't the mute button.

It's all a matter of opinion isn't it - I really rate Craig Burley because he's in no-one's pocket and isn't afraid to be controversial.
Regardless of opinion, as has been said previously - how can an ex Scum, ex Chelsea player comment objectively and fairly on a match between Chelsea and City!
Just lazy TV executives - just like the ones that pay fortunes of our money to the tired, tiresome presenter and pundits on MOTD - but that's just my opinion of course!

Remember when satellite tv first came out? There was an option to watch the game with just the crowd noise. It was a much better viewing experience. Why the powers that be feel the need to impose these cretins' views on us, is beyond me.

here in the usa we had Ian Darke and Steve mcmanananamananan for commentators. Thought they did well to be neutral.

Cancle your subscriptions, folks. It is not complicated. With the advent of this internet thing you can still get some kind of way to watch football should you choose (not that I would recommend it of course).

And then when they ask why you're cancelling, you name the commentators who are fucking shite. Might take a while to list all of them, but they'll get the point.

And you'll be thirty quid a month better off, which you can spend on things that don't wind you up.

We moved to Virgin, instead of Sky. Doesn't change the commentators, but it at least takes away the overpriced fees we paid them.

Willkins can be explained in two words (about half of his total vocabulary):

BORING
