Makes me laugh when people call someone they've never met a 'model pro'. Same thing could have been said about Giggs up until this year.

One big difference between Fletcher and Giggs is that Fletcher took pride in playing for his country despite them being shit and well below his level. He even plays in nonsense friendlies and appears was playing with a horrible illness the last two games.

Beckham?? The guy who admitted he got booked on purpose so that he could be suspended for the next match? People need to get a new set of eyes.

If he's a decent person I hope he gets well soon.

More serious cases means getting your whole colon removed. The likes of Steve Redgrave and JFK have/had it. Cain from Emmerdale has it and there are many more. Once under control you can get your strength back no problem but the real issue is diet and the types of drugs he will have to take. Steroids majorly help recovery but that's not going to pass water with the Premiership drug squad.

He may play for that bunch of twonks but wouldn't anyone to get UC.

UC came close to nearly killing me, I habe no colon now, hope he copes better than me and returns to the game

Unlucky mate. Hope I can avoid that in the future.

Can't believe I'm defending him but what has giggs done to say he's not a model pro? He kept refusing to play for Wales but that just makes him unpatriotic.

As for his off the field activities, did they affect his game?

He's 92 and still the most important player at a team 2nd in the league. I'd say he's been a pretty good pro.

As for Fletcher, best wishes to get over it.

My girlfriend is a internal medicine doctor and she explained the full procedure of dealing with a serious case to me tonight and does not sound pleasant at all. I would not wish that on anyone. I am glad to hear that your case is not at that level.

Whilst in her opinion a normal healthy lifestyle is still possible for Fletcher. The chances of him making a full recovery as a full time footballer are slim.

I think there is a good chance he will get back to top level fitness but the bigger problem is retaining that optimum level for a sustained period without becoming a detriment to the Rag squad. From what I've read, it sounds like his condition has not settled down long enough in order to mentally as well as physically deal with it yet.
