rules of football

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

rules of football

Postby Paul68 » Wed Dec 14, 2011 10:01 am

A) Was watching Lee Evans on tv.
He joked about why doesn't the keeper from team a go up to team b's penalty area on a corner kick, catch or pick the ball up and walk it into the net?

Anyone know if this is actually feasible? or do the rules state he/she can only handle the ball in their OWN area?

B) Watching some local football and team a had free kick outside the box and team b's defence lined up inside the box.

Usual defence line up,hands protecting nads, the ball then hit one guy in the groin, striking his hands and ref awarded penalty...
there was a "heated debate" by team b but the ref was not moved and team a scored from said penalty.

Was this correct decision?

cheers
I wish there was a way to know you are in the good old days....before you've actually left them...

A) No it's obviously not allowed. A keeper becomes an 'outfield' player upon leaving his own penalty area

B) Strictly as to the rules of the game the penalty is awardable however any 'ref' that did so you would hope it would be their last game as a ref ... stupid decision

If it wasn't, keepers would just go after the ball with their hands when they go up for last min corners etc rather than heading it, if you think about it, wouldn't they ?

And B Utd would get a pen for it, as would Liverpool.

Laws say "any player except the goalkeeper in his own area"
and the second was a shocking decision
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.
