I cant get there because of work yet I will have to pay for the seat as i'm in the cup scheme, I doubt I will be able to sell my ticket either as the stadium will be half empty.

It's because take preference over us due to thier better co-efficient in Europe that our game has to change to a Wednesday night but because Europa games cannot clash with the TV schedule of the CL we have to kick off early.City refused to give up home advantage for the second leg.

If it somehow helps the Premier League push, whatever, you know, in terms of playing Saturday, recovery times, etc. I'd rather get out of this competition and focus on the domestic treble, which is winnable.

Fine by me. I work in town and will just go straight to the game, and this time I can be home at a decent hour

That's a good point, I'll be back home in Halifax by 8pm after a "night" game, quite bizarre.

It's because us and the scum are both at home that night. One of the games have to move earlier and the rule is that the team which placed domestically higher the season before is the one that doesn't move. Same happened to Everton a season or two ago if you recall when them and the red dippers played the same night

Yes we do play Weds.....sorry should have made it clearer. GMP won't let both clubs play the same day in Manchester

So, we had two choices:

a) we play on Weds at 5pm (ie. on the day of the CL games BUT at a time that didn't clash with those fixtures)

or

b) we forsake the home game and play both ties away on the Thursday

not much of a choice I know but it's happened before with Everton in recent years

It was not about giving up the home game altogether, just the advantage to have the 2nd leg at home.

You're right.

Also should be noted that EL games often get switched to 5pm k/o on a Thursday too for TV - regardless of whoever else plays that day.

I think 5pm weekday k/os are ridiculous.

leave work early...ask the girl from accounts to come with and make a date of it. You aren't going to do anything productive late afternoon anyway...i promise.
