Just came back from watching Borussia in Dortmund. The atmosphere created by one huge stand like Südtribune is fucking amazing. The rest of the ground act a bit like at Eastlands, but every now and then the Südtribune get the rest going, which really makes the roof lift. Comparisons are very hard to make, though. It'shard to compete with just over 80,000 people in a very tight stadium.

The same fans who sing their hearts out on their travels, simply sit and wait to be entertained at home.

Personally I get more up for it away from home, but that usually because the lads i'm with are the same, at home we're surrounded by miserable gits who just dont get into it. The south stand started off fantastic but has fizzled out now.

You're obviousy doing it wrong, it's easy away from home.

The fans really need to step up on Sunday and get right behind the team from the first whistle to last.

The team have done their bit for the first 14 games and now that they've lost they need to know we're right behind them, big atmosphere needed in what will be a tough game.

Whilst I wouldn't say it was silent I still thought we were very quiet. HOWEVER, I'm in the family stand and therefore wonder if the sound travels unless everyone at the far end sings? The club need to look into the acoustics when they expand as something doesn't seem right with the stadium at the moment.

Maybe the question is can you hear 101 or the South Stand, answers on a post card.

Manchester United have complained to the Football Association about the number of tickets allocated to them by neighbours City for their forthcoming FA Cup tie at the Etihad Stadium.
The Manchester clubs will face each other in the third round on January 8 but the build-up to the match is threatening to be overshadowed by acrimony as it emerged United have complained to the governing body about the hosts’ proposed visiting allocation of 5,400.
Under FA rules, the home club should offer their visitors 15 per cent of capacity. This would mean United would expect to receive 7,100 tickets, and this is the number they have requested.

Winning feeling: Manchester City won the FA Cup last season

However, last year’s beaten semi-finalists have been given 1,700 fewer than that and have written to the FA to ask them to remind City of their obligations.
It is understood the situation is complicated by the fact that United usually only offer City 8,500 tickets for cup games at Old Trafford.
This represents 3,000 less than 15 per cent but United are usually given dispensation to do this by the FA given that their stadium — which holds 78,000 — is so big.
At United there is a feeling that City are engaging in a tit-for-tat move aimed at getting their own back.
However, City sources have denied this, stressing that the design of their stadium makes it difficult for them to offer more than 6,100 to away fans for any game.

Party time: City beat United at least season's semi-final stage

They will tell the FA that they have looked into ways of giving United more tickets but that segregation and security concerns have made it impossible.
The two clubs were drawn together on December 4 and have had since then to reach a compromise. They have failed to do this and United are frustrated that their deadline for ticket applications passed last Friday with the matter still unresolved.
With City two points ahead of United at the top of the Barclays Premier League, the two clubs’ rivalry promises to intensify further as the season progresses.
City midfielder David Silva is looking forward to the Cup tie, hoping for a repeat of last year’s semi-final win at Wembley.
Silva said: ‘The match with Manchester United is quite a way off yet but let’s hope that when it comes we are fit, ready and in good form.
‘It will be an important game, a fantastic game. It’s a shame it is so early in the competition because it means one of us will be out.’

Extra tickets would mean extra disinfectant and more hours spent having to sterilise the ground...Fuck em!!! give em a 2 seater couch in the Athletic Ground next door and a portable telly.

I do think it is unreasonable for City to charge the rags the full ticket price...Most of them will have fucked off home just after half time.

Manchester United lose out in row over tickets for FA Cup derby at Etihad stadium
Mike Keegan

Manchester United will be given 5,691 tickets for the FA Cup derby at the Etihad stadium next month, it has been confirmed.

The Reds had asked City for an allocation of more than 7,000 for the 8 January clash as competition rules state that visiting clubs are entitled to 15 per cent of the host stadium's capacity.

But Blues officials offered a figure around 5,700 - citing safety reasons - a move which prompted United bosses to complain to the FA.

As reported in today's M.E.N., a meeting of the Safety Advisory Group, made up of representatives of the town hall and police, recommended that the FA should come down on City's side.

And it is understood FA bosses have now given the Blues special dispensation, allowing to hand over less than the stipulated 15 per cent.

United officials say they have little option other than to abide by that decision.

A Reds source said: "We thought we had a fair case and we wrote to the FA to ask for what we were entitled to. There is little else we can do."

The M.E.N. also understands that extra security measures are being considered ahead of the clash on the back of City’s continued emergence and the 6-1 thumping of United at Old Trafford in October.

The numbers of rows of empty seats between opposing fans is likely to be increased in a bid to prevent flashpoints inside the ground.

Police will be wary after problems when the pair met in the Carling Cup semi final in 2010.when 18 arrests were made at a highly-charged Eastlands first leg.

Despite claims to the contrary by the Metropolitan Police, trouble reared its ugly head again in and around Wembley at May’s FA Cup semi-final.

A total of 34 arrests were made but a number of violent confrontations took place before and after the match with the force criticised for a lack of control and numbers.

No such problems were reported at August’s Charity Shield with police in the capital saying they hard learned from the previous encounter.

United are exempt from handing out 15 per cent allocations to away fans at Old Trafford for cup matches due to its bigger capacity.

They usually hand over 8,500 tickets to visitors, which is what City could expect in the event of a replay.
