Have to feck he has had a lucky escape here he could have had a far harsher punishment.really classy move by Liverpool appealing the ban.

If Suarez has got 8 games, Terry's fucked. There's way more evidence against him.

He's their player, they're accountable for his actions on the field. I thought that was obvious.

thats a relatively fair point, and yes they should have done far more in terms of bedding him in to the rites and rituals of this conutry, but there has to be a big part of it which is a man talking to another man. i have just heard someone talking on 5live who says the word used can be used either amicably or derogatory. Think i'll step down as you would nevertake that kind of risk with someone you don't know.

Suarez will be a massive blow to their top 6 chances too, top 4 out of the question now imo. I don't care what people say about Suarez, his skill is unquestionable and will be a massive loss. About time the FA took action answer made an example of someone, time to back it up and ban terry too.

I love bernstien :-)

so he can play this week vs. Villa but then is banned for 8 domestic games after that? But that penalty doesnt begin until after Liverpool decide whether or not to appeal?

What word did he use? I assumed it was he n****** word, but might confuse it with the Terry incident, since I can't see that being used amicably ...

He said the word 'Negro' I think, followed by the words fuck-pig, but I might have made that up.

which, as you rightly say, means something very different in uruguay. after reading that it has a nuanced meaning i did some extensive research ( i looked around the internet a bit) and it would appear that the word negrito really does have a different meaning in uruguay. assuming the guy suarez is a really thick cunt - which he certainly appears to be, then he might just possibly be innocent of the charge.
and as for the terry thing - he seems to be a massive cunt, but his explanation, after viewing the video, also seems to be very plausible.

So, if innocent, why the ban, what could be misconstrued?

Real question.

Its not just URUGUAY its in the whole of South America.......if a person is dark tanned/ black ect then often in social circles they will be called "negrito" little black guy..although you cannot take that translation so literally as its different here....its like if a person is slightly overweight then they get called "gorda" "gordo"....once again it depends on tone used.

Now if suarez was like saying to EVRA "oye negrito calmate" (hey little black guy,,,,, calmn down)......then it isnt an insult.....but if he says it in a different aggressive tone..then it is.

I dotn want to defend the buck toothed cretin...but here in LA those words are used day in and day out on football pitches and in social circles...noone takes offence.

my extensive research extends to this mate (although it's the most eloquently put of the many variations i read):

The varying nuances of the word negrito, though, could become fundamental to this dispute. A CNN website piece from 17th November carries this observation from U.S. radio talk show host Fernando Espuelas, who originally hails from the Uruguay :
“It’s not a slur whatsoever,” said Espuelas, whose show often addresses racism in the Latino community. “It’s a term of endearment. You definitely would not use that if you were angry. It would sound ridiculous.”
More thoroughly, Wikipedia expands upon the breadth of interpretation of the word and highlights why calling it simply in one direction or other is no easy task :
In Spain, Mexico and almost all of Latin-America, negro means “black person” in colloquial situations, but it can be considered to be derogatory in other situations (as in English, “black” is often used to mean irregular or undesirable, as in “black market/mercado negro”). However, in Spanish-speaking countries such asArgentina, Chile, and Uruguay where there are few people of African origin and appearance, negro (negra for females) is commonly used to refer to partners, close friends[13] or people in general independent of skin color. In Venezuela the word negro is similarly used, despite its large African descent population.
It is similar to the use of the word “nigga” in urban communities in the United States. For example, one might say to a friend, ”Negro ¿Como andas? (literally “Hey, black one, how are you doing?”). In this case, the diminutive negrito is used, as a term of endearment meaning “pal”, “buddy” or “friend”. Negrito has come to be used to refer to a person of any ethnicity or color, and also can have a sentimental or romantic connotation similar to “sweetheart,” or “dear” in English.
