Couldn't make it so only saw the highlights, but you're right. If only the fans had got behind the team we could have played them off the park rather than scraping a win and having to hang on at the end.

I think it's the modern way. The old Kippax was full of proactive people who were focussed on singing chanting (and a few other things) but most of all getting behind the team and driving them along. Fans in other stands at Maine Road, just seemed to wish to be entertained and rarely if ever joined the concerted singing.
These days it seems that there is a smaller percentage of our present crowd who fall into the old Kippax category and a far larger proportion who are content to ooh! and aah! when necessary, join in now and then when the excitement threshold warms them up but are generally content to let the team generate any entertainment or excitement.
Don't think that there's a great deal that can be done about it....sadly.
