Kindvall speaks about Guidetti: He ought to be picked [for the swedish team] for the Euro 2012

Eleven goals in twelve appearances for Feyenoord. Now, John Guidetti, 19, is also designated as the Eredivisie's largest cult player. Ove Kindvall is enjoying the latest developments back in Sweden. The Feyenoord legend follows Guidetti's rampage carefully - and have received positive reports from friends in the old club. "I know how things where in my time [with the club], it's the same for him now" says Kindvall to FotbollsExpressen.se.

John Guidetti has made a great success in Feyenoord this autumn. In twelve games, the 19-year-old super-talent have made eleven goals - and won the fans' hearts. The readers of the Dutch football magazine Voetbal International has been voting for the biggest cult player in the Eredivisie. A vote Guidetti won comfortably. "With his positive attitude, fun team antics and goal scoring gestures, he deserves the title" writes Voetbal International in a statement.

"They are very satisfied"

One of those who rejoice at Guidettis success is Ove Kindvall. The old national team hero that became an icon at Feyenoord during his five years, when he made 129 goals in 144 games - and won two league titles and the final of the European Cup.
"I follow john closely and I have contact with one of the leaders of Feyenoord, a friend of mine, that way I get to know alot, says Kindvall, who also played two World Championships with Sweden and won both the golden ball and 'bragdguldet'.

What do they say about John?

They are very satisfied, of course. Especially since he made so many goals. I know what it was in my time, it's like that now for him. I think its great.

What do you think of him as a player?

He is well ahead of other youngsters, but then again he has been abroad for a couple of years now. He trains very hard and it shows as he is progressing well. He is good at most things, all-round - not just scoring goals. His situation is really exciting. And he is just 19 years old, huh?

Yes, 19 years old

Thats terrific. I was much older when I joined Feyenoord.

"A Rooney-type"

Are there any differences between you and John as players?

- Yes, he's a little heavier than I was. He plays a little differently and roams more. I was a more pronounced goal scorer that tried to stay as far up as I could all the time. He covers more ground, over larger areas. He is more of a Wayne Rooney-type than I was.

Many want him to participate [in the swedish team] for the Euro 2012. Is he ready for it?

- Yes, absolutely, I think so. I think that what he has shown [this autumn], is that he should be granted a place [in the swedish team]. He seems to be a guy who likes challenges. He knows exactly what he wants to do and the Euro 2012 would be a great experience for him. I think he should be in the squad. He is a good player, and he could be used as a supersub who brings a lot of qualities to the team.

The contract with the City expires at the New Year. What do you think will happen? He himself seems to want to stay ...

- Well? I'd like it if he would stay. He have enjoyed his life here so far and this is a proper football town this, Feyenoord, with the fans and everything. I feel like I understand why he is enjoying his life like I did for five years at the club. Though City owns him and thus makes the decision, but hopefully they listen to him. The risk is that another big club comes and throws up the money. Apart from that, I think, for his development, it would be good if he stayed, at least until summer.

No. He'll end up getting murdered by Bosnian mentalists for threatening Dzeko's playing time.

Leave him where he is.

It's easy to score in the eredivisie one player scored 7 in one game don't you know.

He got the attitude and the will to go all the way I reckon. What he needs now more than anything is time on the field - which he gets plenty of at Feyenoord currently. I think City are wise to keep him.

He is doing really well, but lets not get too carried away. Let him prove himself for a longer period of time. It takes some adjusting but we only need GREAT players . I have seen most of Guidetti's games and must say he is improving by the week. But it's too soon to really tell.

While I'd love for him to do great for us, I'm also happy for him that he's actually scoring in a 1st team. At his age, think it would be a better career move for him to keep getting regular game time over in Holland

I'd be tempted to bring him back and loan him to a premier league team. He's still young and learning but he needs to learn about the PL and how different it is to most other leagues.

Samaras was a god like Maradonna in that league.

Which is funny because I was just about to say its on a par with the Scottish league, minus the big 2.

I like Guildeti though, I hope he gets a chance with us, and we are only 1 injured striker away from needing a front man.

* obviously we have loads of players that can play up front, but Balo, Kun and Dzeko are our real strikers, if we lose one, there is no proper back up.

To sit on the bench for most the matches like Weiss?? No thank you. Don't want to help those horrible cunts get out of the rut they are in at all.

Afonso Alves - On 7 October 2007, in only his second appearance of the season, Alves scored seven goals in his side's 9–0 victory over Eredivisie rivals Heracles Almelo, setting a new Eredivisie record for most goals scored in a single match.

He had a spell with Middlesbrough.

To be fair, Alves was a scoring machine, that wasen''t an accident. He had some drinking problems that didn't make him a world class striker.
If i recall, he scored in that horrible 2-8 with Boro.

A bit of an exaggeration. Dutch league is ranked 9th in Europe, just behind Ukraine, but ahead of Greece and Turkey.
Scotland's league lies in 18th position, and is due to fall behind Czech Republic, Poland and possibly Romania at the end of this season.

I was wondering about Swansea as they play in a similar way to us - lots of keeping possession and waiting for an opening. Would be good for him to get used to the needs of that style of play, too.
