Is he like Tranny though where he only turns up against lower class teams? I have never seen him turn up for instances against the rags but saying that Spurs never do. He didn’t do a great lot against the rent boys last week. I will say he is truly great when he starts to do it against the big boys. Where was he when we beat them 5-1????

Spot on. Two other points - 1)he has absolutely no right peg at all; show him inside into the other defenders and you've cracked it.
2) He has one major trick, knock it down the line on his left peg and outpace you, a la David White back in the 90's. A pacy defender or a smart one who overplays his left peg and forces him on to his right and inside, where he clearly never wants to go, will help to nullify him.

One final thought, I thought Scott Parker was always Man of the Match in every Spurs game and the best player in the universe? He seems to be every time you look at a tabloid report.

Nor does Silva. I also don't think anyone has claimed Parker is the best player in the universe.

It's not just the best teams either but includes sides who single him out to be stopped.Let's face it Phil Neville sorted him easily.

I would have him though.

Each season, when he plays a couple of decent games, he gets outragous praise , someone compares him to Ronaldo or Messi & Harry immediately mentions the possiblity of people buying him.

I'd love him on the left for us. Outstanding player.

His form is up and down but even on an off day he's very effective. When on song he wins games single handedly.

Very few players with pace like him have such a good end product.

end product?? ok, it's occasionally decent. most of the time, he's a left-footed theo walcott.

Rubbish. His crossing and finishing are in a different league to Walcott's.

Have a look at his stats.

If you actually bothered to watch Silva closely you'd notice he often cuts inside and goes either way with his defender/marker. Bale very very rarely does, maiking him a lot easier to mark if you have any pace of smarts.

As Doug correctly pointed out, Phil Neville sucessfully nullified Bale last season too by using his experience, and forcing him inside all the time where he never wants to go.

The one where Spuds were 4-0 down after about 10 mins and Inter went into pre-season friendly mode?? I don’t buy the hype around that game as it was over as a contest very early on and the Inter players ended up strolling around, i don’t believe for one second he would have scored a hatrick like he did if the game was a close 1-0.

Dont get me wrong i think he is a very good player just not as good as Harry is making out.

They seemed to have lost all notion of how to defend against him. They had a right back pushed right up the pitch with no cover from the CB.

However, would you swap AJ and £20m for Bale? I would, As I think he'd give us something we haven't got - out and out pace

Wouldn't swap AJ, his shot from outside the box is almost unmatched in the league. Not as fast but more skill than Bale
