Why do you have to wear skiny jeans and have spikey hair to prove if you can sing after all that`s what it`s meant to be about, however if that`s what you like fill your boots. I just think it`s wank..only my opinion.
Tedious, superficial, pretentious guff.
Cos something is popular does not mean it's crap.
All the stuff about conning people is bollox.

Not really. Music is more important to me than it is to others does not make it tedious, superficial or pretentious. The Who, Pink Floyd and Michael Jackson are examples of something popular that i would say aren`t guff they just created themselves, they weren`t formed and modelled into something we are told we should like. If you`re not being conned why can`t you vote for free. After all these extraordinary talents have been discovered for our popular enjoyment.
I didn`t realise you were such a fan of x factor....it`s nothing to be ashamed of...honest.

I have never denied being a fan of the x factor like the people on here that pretend they are being elitist, superior, pontificating by being to clever to watch it.By the way if all them highbrow lot who turn it over when it comes on apply the same thing when suppository comes on they would have less to be paranoid about. There is as much talent around now as when the bands you mention were around. How they become visible to the public may have changed but to say someone like Leona lewis or Alexandra Burke or Jls to name a few have no talent is being a bit unkind to say the least.
I've never voted.People who want to spend money doing so are told of the cost of it.If they want to do that then jt is their business. The Who.Pink floyd(bloody hell youre showing your age)Wacko gave all their records for free did they?I missed that one.Individual taste is one thing but if something is as popular as the x factor gets millions of people watching they are doing something right.

The Who and Floyd were groups I was brought up on, Wacko was the first name that came into my head. The x factor will never create long standing superstars comparable to these as long as I have a hole in my arse mate. Leonna Lewis and Alex Burke are no Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey (neither my cup of tea but they have a 5 and 7 octave vocal range respectively dependant on the amount of coke the first one is having). It`s hard enough for real talent to break through(if it was burke and lewis wouldn`t need this show would they) without the extra obstacle of this show flooding the market with this stuff. I agree with you that everything is down to individual taste and what i like wouldn`t get on the x factor. As for being popular, it has the 2 prime spots bought and paid for by cowell what do you expect.
I also agree with Mase...He`s a rag twat.
simon12 wrote:Wow RH how did you summise that, I meant nothing of the sort. Good music is good music no matter who makes it. The Who and Floyd aren`t my era they were my dads. My influences were from labels like Streetwave in the early 80`s the pop version of this type of music would be SOS band, Looseends etc. My kids also think wtf when they hear Floyd too. Music is definately a reflection of the times. Disco, Punk and House music are good examples of this.

Talent shows have been around for years the X factor is just a modern version.
A few famous people who have come through the talent show route Les Dawson, Tom O’ Connor, Roy Chubby Brown and Pam Ayres.
