Tonight's ref - Mike Jones

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Tonight's ref - Mike Jones

Postby freshie » Tue Jan 03, 2012 11:59 pm

What a useless, bent tosser. Gave everything to the scousers and to our credit we still emerged with a win. Unbelievably poor refereeing which I will go as far to say was the worst performance by a referee I have ever seen.
He let Adam get away with numerous fouls and didn't give him a single yellow card but then went and booked Barry for his first foul of the game.
He failed to award us a penalty in the first half when Skrtel handballed in the penalty area.
He let Skrtel continuously pull the shirts of our players, most notably Dzeko, and didn't give a single free kick against him.
He should have sent Skrtel off for the foul against Yaya that led to the penalty
He sent Barry off for an innocuous foul after Agger had already lost the ball

Complete and utter waste of space - demote him back to non-league football. TWAT

Disagree thought he was alright, Barry deserved a second yellow for committing 3-4 fouls in 10 minutes. He gave us a penalty that many wouldn't have.

So the fact that he blew his whistle every time a scouser went down yet gave us practically nothing was good refereeing? The penalty we were awarded was a stonewall penalty and should also have resulted in Skrtel getting at least a yellow card.

Which was probably a reaction to the realisation of his extremely harsh sending off of Barry. Anyway having seen the replay a couple of times I am convinced it was a penalty - had it not been given everyone would have been kicking off about it.

Was a dodgy pen imo. Yaya was going down before he was touched. Not arsed though :D

Nothing dodgy about it at all you blind cunts. Yaya was clipped on the heels by the green monster and he went down...foul..penalty.

He gave the scouse everything , it was a clear penalty and should have been at least a yellow. Adam got away with murder - again.

After what we've seen during the season, are you surprised?

I can totally understand why Mancini give the 'Red Card' sign after the Barry sending off, he must've been livid after the way Jones ref'd the game, somehow trying to bring a balance to the Dippers non-appeal to the Saurez incident.

I thought Jones was gash, and even though you could say that the 2nd yellow for Barry was warranted you can't say that the 1st was anymore warranted than Adam's tackles on us, without a card.

It's getting so predictable now that even when we win handsomely, people are moaning about the ref. It fucks me right off!

And then, the biggest thing on Sky is the Mancini gesture. Fuck you, you absolute cock-wanks, get yourselves over to Taggart's and Kill Kenny's house to lick their wrinkled brown arses.

Well done Bobby M, total class shines through again, unlike Redknapp, you devious cunt!

Im not sure running around waving an imaginery card trying to get an opponent sent off qualifies as total class.

And I alluded to that in the fact he came out in the interview and stated his case. Heat of the moment, what Adam had got away with previously. He didn't even have to be asked, he brought it up himself.

And that's the difference between a class manager and the likes of Wenger and Dalglish, he actually see's what happens and admits when he's wrong.

Why the fuck should Bob have to aplogise for that ? Just because he gestured with his fingers; Ferguson may not do the hand movement but you can fucking guarantee he, or Wenger, or Dalglish or any cunt would have been screaming at the 4th official for a red card if it happened to their teams.

Even Nev***e was alluding to that whilst Redknapp was being all precious about it.

Meh, what they're showing is that it should have been a red card. The alternative is to have no mention of it at all.

i don't understand why, if it's a pen, which i believe it was, it isn't a straight red? He's clearly the last fucking man, no?

From the FIFA laws of the game:

"A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off and shown the red card if he commits any of the following seven offences: [...] 4. denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area); 5. denies an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick."

how was that not a fucking straight red card? if it's a pen, it's a red card.

cheers

If it's not a penalty it's a dive. My take on it is that it wasn't even a legitimate attempt at a tackle, it was a trip. It was a simple case of a red card.

I was just shocked that a penalty was awarded at all, we don't get many of them. They're so rare that we don't go down in the box if we can help it.

Mancini waving a pretend card was crap, totally classless and an embarrassment for city. Apologising immediately afterwards shows he realises it and is able to admit a mistake. A rare quality in a manager
