He was still angry about Barry's second yellow, he is passionate and I wouldn't change that for anything. As it was imaginary we do not know what colour he was waving, could have been just a yellow. Or maybe green given that it was Skirtl. I'd have sent him off just so as not to have to look at him. Not that I am alientist, I'm not. Just him.

The racist had clearly been giving lessons on cheating to Agger who put in a flawless performance of diving and overreacting throughout the game, as did Carrol but I think she had previous on this front even before being Scoused.

The ref was easily conned as much as anything. I'll give the benefit of the doubt bias wise, I think he is just incompetent.

Disagree thought he was alright, Barry deserved a second yellow for committing 3-4 fouls in 10 minutes. He gave us a penalty that many wouldn't have.

This for me too. Although Adam did get away with alot and I'm very surprised that he didnt get at least a yellow.
Especially in the beginning of the match Jones let the flow of the game continue and tried to keep the cards in his pocket which I enjoyed.

I'd question why Adam and Skrtel got completely different treatment than Barry in that game. I thought Stan Boardman was reffing at one point, he was that bad.

It was definitely a penalty. Skrtel doesn't touch Yaya with his lead (right) foot but takes him out with his back (left) leg. The ref got that part spot-on but how Skrtel didn't get even a yellow card for it, I'll never know!

The ref though.. muppet. Adam should have been carded at least and the same goes for Skittle. Both should have had a yellow card at least.

Barry's first booking probably was right. Second one still looks harsh.
Deffo pen on Yaya, so why no red card to accompany the foul? odd to sat the least.
How many times was Skrtl grabbing a handful of shirt in the penalty area without punishment.
I think that's a fair assessment of the main talking points.

Oh and Gary Neville was quite fair with us again, how weird is that becoming.

I actually disagree with the hand-ball decision. When I first seen it (and it was right in front of me) I was screaming for a pen but understood why he didn't give it. After watching it once I got home it was clear that when the ball flicked up, his arm moved from the side of his body, up above his head and in the line of the ball, stopping it going forward where Sergio was heading to and would've surely got possession, in-front of goal.

The ref's overall performance screamed of a 'Don't do anything to upset Liverpool, They've had it hard' attitude, which for me, was the wrong message to send out.

Jones was a poor ref but for both squads indeed! Bobby Manc made an hard mistake for me to criticise him so long with fourth official! Barry deserved to be sent off, our penalty wasn't so clear at all, even if we play a fantastic game I disagree with all this criticism.

Believe me it was a pen. When Kenny Dalglish says " we gave away a penalty " without one word of criticism for the decision, you can be pretty sure it was a pen.

I was the only City fan in the pub last night and there were at least fifteen Scouse 1 fans and 1 acerbic bitter and
twisted OAP Everton fan.

So standing my ground I kept telling them that the ref was biased towards them ( Scouse1). Of course it wasn't a penalty ( I thought it wasa soft penalty and probably would not have blown for it myself. Others seem pretty certain).

Of course for the Scouse 1 fans, it wasn't handball either ... yeah really ! Of course it was.

I thought Agger lost the ball and looked for the foul against Barry. Never a red, ever.

As for Adam , should have gone and when they clapped his performance as he was being substituted I just bust out with
laughter and took the piss out of them. " You are all applauding a useless, Dirty Clogger ? " i asked. "You lot are clearly sick".

They are so pathetic, they were even applauding Steve Gerrard making a simple 20 metre sideways pass, ( that ended in nothing).

Not one of them gave City any compliments for the way they played. It was all down to scouse 1 not being quite right under Kenny just yet.

So home for the Derby and same time next week watching the Semi final.
This time I expect there to be about two Scouse 1 fans there :-)

The Ref was absolutely diabolical.

I am just pleased that they can't penalise City for playing good attractive football, but I'm sure they will find a way to do it.

My impression of the second Barry booking was that he was going to make a tackle but then saw Yaya sliding straight at him from the opposite side of the player and had to pull out of that - leading him to collide with the Liverpool player.. did anyone else see it that way ?

Jones didnt have a great game at all, seemed like he was tip-toeing around the scouse all game. Their man should have walked at the pen, Barry was a bit silly in my opinion but did no worse than anyone else.

Atwell in that Wolves game was possibly the worst performance by a ref ive ever seen live.

It would be a lot simpler, this season, to start a thread when ever a ref has had a good game. Some of the displays at the Etihad this season have been downright disgraceful and the current crop of referees must be up their with the worst in Premier League history.

I totally agree with that. The standard of reffing is really poor. Every game seems to have to have some controversy, all emanating from the ref. It's like it's their stage to shine. Some performances have been a disgrace. Many, in fact.

But surely Clattenburg wins any award going. His display against Chelsea was blatant cheating.

I know someone will put me right if I am wrong but I just have this hunch and gut feeling that:

A game of football is contested by 2 teams who play within a set of laws and the result of the game is usually defined by the sum total of the decisions made by those players.
The referee is only there to ensure that the decisions made by the players during the game, fall within that set of laws.

Can someone explain then why it is deemed important for the referee to let the game flow? Or why the fuck he shouldn't blow his fucking whistle every tiime a player goes beyond the limits of the laws? Oreven why a referee is expected to use his/her discretion?

It has got fuck all to do with him. The way a game is played is the sole responsibility of the players. Surely it is the players who have the sole responsibilty to let the game flow by not commiting offences. If by using his/her discretion, he/she ignores an offence and allows the game to flow, he has given one team an advantage and the ref is interfering with the contest.

The other night I heard that Lampard wasn't booked or sent off (can't remember which) simply because he wasn't considered to be (normally) a malicious player....abject fucking nonsense. It's not the ref's responsibilty to consider that as a factor. All the ref should have considered was the offence and punished it as he sawit on itsmerits, at the time.

Just for the record, I hate all refs...just because they are refs and they breathe.

Obviously now't wrong with that Gillie, that was just Webb's way of evening things out over the course of the season. That's allowed isn't it, we're told it often enough.

And that's the difference between our ref's and continental ones. Ours try to run the game whilst they try to do their job and officiate it.
