As it turned out it was a big mistake as it seems I missed a cracker.
This was just the kind of result we needed after the 2 away disappointments and the best preparation for Sunday. Looking now for highlights.

Sleep is for the weak.

Was 3am start Bangkok time which is a real bugger of a time as you don't whether to stay up late or get up early! The regular 3am / 4am starts must fuck you up down under. Explains why you all talk such crap so much of the time and why Slim's head explodes.

This morning for me was 6am. However, my innoculated daughter kept me awake until 3:30am. Going to bed very very soon.

Oh by the way, a solid if unspectacular 3-0 if that's possible. I was filthy with the ref and Dzeko but I have NO doubt that Edin will start in the league cup semi and score at least two. As has been mentioned earlier in this thread, he's like that.

The only ever time I've walked out of City in disgust is when Blobby Fowler took that half arsed penalty against Boro.
Last night when Dzeko lost a header to Jay fucking Spearing I came close to doing it again.

There's no player that I want to become a world beater more than Edin, but when I see a player put in a half hearted performance it makes my blood boil. And it's obviously not because he's a shit player because he's already shown he's got the ability. And people can tell me a million times 'he's a confidence player' BULLSHIT!! Having confidence or not doesn't stop you from jumping up in the air to TRY and win a header.

He won't be here in a years time, which is a shame because as you could hear by the chants yesterday we've taken to him.

I don't think Balotelli will ever put in more work than Dzeko, so if we're dumping players for that, there's two places to fill.

No issue at all with Dzeko's work rate as far as I can see. It is his first touch and lack of end product that are of concern!

I have concerns about all three from time to time but I've also seen him produce all three. Two of his efforts v Sunderland were from absolutely fantastic 1st touches. His problem imo, is the difference between his best moments & his worst moments. His best is world class, his worst is 4th division. He was like that in Germany though. I saw him turn in a few dreadful performances but he still ended up with shitloads of goals. If he gets a couple soon, it's just as likely the people slating him now will be saying how wonderful he is when he scores 10 in 10 games; that's how he is.

Imo, he did ok last night, not great, not shit, a bit frustrating. A nice perfectly weighted through ball for Toure's pen.

Since the start of the season Balo has put in some serious effort. Don't know where you've got that from.
Getting pushed off the ball, losing out on 99% of headers, misplaced passes, etc when the guy actually has the ability shows a lack of effort to me.

he seriously needs to get back to basics and start doing the simple things right. The rest should follow.

He was out in Manchester dressed as Tigger, throwing £50 notes in the air, shouting at Ryan Giggs' bit on the side, smoking a cig before going to B&Q and getting some black paint a a paint brush to paint his car black.

I think.

Balotelli hardly ever even challenges for a long goal kick, he occasionally has a go, or gets sent off, but mostly he looks at it contemptuously until Bob shouts at him. I think Balotelli is doing ok for workrate, he's working fairly hard most of the time as is Dzeko but if Dzeko is being questioned for not challenging enough for long humps in the air then Balotelli is equally guilty, I would say much much much more so.

i thought dzeko showed the desire, if not the ability, to perform well last night. that's an improvement. baby steps.

If losing out on a header to Jay Spearing is showing desire then even I could make it.

Dzeko was poor at times. But taking him off would have been an error as he kept the two cloggers occupied to some extent, fouling him. And he did make the 3rd with Yaya. Great pass.

Dzeko is an average to good player. Not terrible but not good enough to be the main striker for a team challenging for the League. Especially when the ball bounces off him like it did last night.

I'm wondering, apart from one shot which their keeper dived over, exactly what Aguero has done recently that is so much better than Dzeko. All I can see is that Dzeko has tried to score more often wheras Aguero has tended to run into trouble rather than shoot. Both have struggled.

Its been said before but people are annoyed by Dzeko's inability time and time again to trap or control a relatively simple ball. He msicontrols passes I'd expect a sunday league striker to take control of.He is capable of great moments, we all know that but he's inconsistent.

Dzeko is one of those players who will stand out more than others, because of his clumsy looking runs and plays, but over the course of the game contributes more than aguero does.

Not that he's doing brilliantly or anything, but he gets himself into the game far more than aguero and with aguero's ability and pace this should not be the case at all. From where I can see it, aguero would be far more effective running and chasing down in that deeper role and getting the ball to dzeko in and around the box. They both need to have a word with each other imo.

Also, we're one of tue shittest teams at crossing the ball from the wings and we all know why.

The one game where we actually used the wings to great effect was Spurs. And look what Dzeko did then. That's the type of striker he is. That header against Spurs was one of the best I've ever seen. That's his type of game.
If we are not going to cross the ball then it's pointless him being in the team.
