We should be looking to win every tournament we play in. However RETAINING the F.A cup is the most important of the two dometsic cups.. you can also argue that beating the rags in this competition will give them more determination in the league. I think we need to just grab our balls and win the lot!

Hahaha! Fuck me! There's even a few 'Fergie Out's!

Its nice that somebody pointed out that this is in fact their third best start ever to a season. They must be shitting themselves.

Another nail in the coffin on Sunday would be lovely.

If we play well we win and they may just drift away in the league. They have no midfield and no fight lookingat last night, back 4 and goalkeeper would be 4th choice for us. Bring it on lets nail em.

Whilst its quite probable that a win over the dippers will see us win the League Cup, a win against U****d on Sunday will do more than just get us to the next round of the FA.

The confidence it will give to us (and rip from them) will be incredible, 3 losses in a row will really seem like a 'crisis' to them, no matter how much baconface will deny it. He's been an arrogant twat with all his 'we'll see who the real champions are in the second half of the season' mindgames shit.

Mancini will know this and i have every faith in him putting out a team to win.

Fuck the 6-1, 8-0 please City.

Can someone tell me what price id get on 8-0? Im at work and can't check.

There is no way we are losing this one by the way.

Around 175 - 200/1.

I think PaddyPower is giving 500's though!

Funnily enough - the odds on a 6-1 repeat are significantly lower (375-1) than all the other scores around it (500-1).

I think our fans might fancy this one.

Lets not get too ahead of ourselves... they've wobbled before. I hope our players remain grounded even if the fans can't. It's a long long season.

Rio Ferdinand: Newcastle loss was best thing to happen to us since Blackburn shambles

England's best ever defender today described their recent defeat as a 'wake up call' that was needed to inspire them to victory in the forthcoming FA Cup Derby encounter.

"I think it's obvious that we lost against Newcastle to give us a kick up the arse."

Credit must go to Sir Alex for winning the all important mind games before such a crucial match.

Sir Alex meanwhile refused to take credit for the strategy and instead focused on the poor performance from his star player, the usually reliable Howard Webb.

"I think he needs to really focus to recapture his best form. He's so important to the team, I'm sure this is just a blip"

Yaya Toure's a big miss. As well as Barry. Middle two of Milner and Dejong I guess.

Crazy thought.... Komps in midfield 3 with Savic next to lescott.

I'd personally prefer the CC final over this game. Utd is no longer a cup final for us, real ones are!

It would be less of a gamble letting Vince stay as central defender and deploy Zabba as a midfielder. Not that we need to, though. A Milner and de Jong partnership is certainly good enough.

I was thinking about Vinnie at centre mid too, or even Zabba.

KOLO has been a rock as far as I'm concerned and actually gives us an attacking threat option with his play...much prefer him to Lescott based on his recent performances.

shame hes off as well.

Anyway carry on..........

That's life, Fergie! It's exactly what Sir Alex said could never happen... United are underdogs

He made it to 70, but the declaration that never in his lifetime would those noisy neighbours go into a Manchester derby match as clear favourites has come back to bite Sir Alex Ferguson.
It has been the best part of two-and-a-half years since that wonderful piece of theatre at Manchester United's Carrington training ground. That moment when he stared in disgust at his inquisitor for fully 15 seconds for daring to ask if Manchester City would ever be the more fancied team of the two.
'What time is it?' he eventually said. 'I think it is time for me to leave.' But as he rose from his chair he could not resist that now infamous jibe. 'Not in my lifetime,' he muttered before marching away.

Bad week: And now Sir Alex Ferguson (right) faces a trip to the Etihad Stadium
On Sunday, the nightmare will become a reality. A Manchester City side that secured that astonishing 6-1 win at Old Trafford earlier this season will entertain United in an FA Cup tie that nobody outside Old Trafford can see them losing.
Home advantage aside, it has much to do with the fact that United have lost their last two games amid what amounts to a fairly serious injury crisis.

But that is unlikely to ease United's pain if they receive another hiding, and you could sense with Ferguson that he was ready to fight the world to prevent it from happening.
He was at his smouldering best, refusing to recognise City as the outstanding team in the Barclays Premier League this season and even throwing in a fresh conspiracy theory for good measure.

Yaya Toure is due to report for Africa Cup of Nations duty in Paris on Saturday but Ferguson remains convinced the all-action midfielder will make a surprise appearance at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday lunchtime.
'I am not sure if Toure will not be available Sunday,' he said. 'He probably will. As I understand it they don't have to report until Monday so why wouldn't he play?'
City insist their attempts to delay Toure's departure, and that of brother Kolo, have been rejected by Ivory Coast football officials.

Tables turned: Manchester City's 6-1 win at Old Trafford stunned football
Until he sees the team sheet, Fergie is sure to prepare his side in the belief that the finest central midfield in English football at this moment will be looking to dominate Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick much as Newcastle did in the week.
United's manager reported there were no new injuries from that defeat at Newcastle. But even Ferguson struggled to deliver the news with a great sense of joy when it was accompanied by the admission that none of those currently out because of injury or illness would be back in time for the cup-tie.
Instead, Ferguson put his energy into taking a few thinly veiled swipes at City while revealing that the 6-1 defeat would not be used as a motivational tool. 'I will not be mentioning it,' he said.
A reference to Tottenham was unprompted and very deliberate. City's achievements so far this season demand some recognition. They are three points clear at the top with a goal difference that says they have played some terrific football.

Conspiracy theory: Fergie is unsure Yaya Toure (right) will miss the big game
But will Ferguson ever acknowledge that? It would seem not. He also dismissed Mancini's complaint about the impact the Africa Cup of Nations can have on a team.
'All the teams who have had African players over the years have not really suffered that much,' he said. 'City have a strong and experienced squad. It is not unexpected where they are at the moment. But they also know we are right behind them and while it is easy to write off Tottenham they are playing the best football in the country.
'They won 1-0 the other day and that indicates a certain determination. West Brom had a lot of the play towards the end of the game but they were resilient and dug in and got a good result. Both of us, I think (United and City), are quite well aware that Tottenham are playing the best at the moment.'
They are certainly playing better than United, and Ferguson was in no mood to argue otherwise.

Silva service: City boast the best midfield in the Barclays Premier League
'The disappointing thing for me the other night at Newcastle was the fact that we played the most experienced team I could get,' he said. 'Some of them were obviously short of a game or two but, nonetheless, we carried a lot of experience into that game.'
Indeed they did, but a 38-year-old Giggs and Carrick will need to be a good deal sharper whether Toure is playing or not.
'There is enough experience in this squad to cope with a really difficult tie,' said Ferguson. 'I always say that a home draw in the FA Cup is important, so City have that advantage. But it's still a cup tie, a local derby, and anything can happen.'
If United are to have any chance, they need Wayne Rooney to put recent problems behind him and deliver a more typical, towering performance.
Predictably, Ferguson would not discuss the recent training-ground controversy that led to his best player being dropped for the Blackburn game.
'I'm not getting into that,' he said before arguing, rather unconvincingly, that he then took Rooney off at Newcastle because he wanted to give Anderson 'a bit of a game'.
Could Anderson now feature on Sunday? It is a question that is unlikely to worry the favourites.

That's because you're a City fan and are therefore genetically programmed to think that not only is your glass half full, it's probably been drugged and pissed in.

However, if you just look at the two teams, even with our missing players, there should only be one winner and I think we'll be too good for them. That said, I'll be chewing my knuckles off 10 minutes before kick off. I started to panic when they got it back to 3-1 at the swamp.
