Tevez poses with AC Milan boss ahead of finally sealing Man City exit
Carlos Tevez posed for photographs with AC Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani after taking a step closer to sealing his exit from Manchester City.
The Italian champions will submit a new bid for the striker after talks with the player's advisor Kia Joorabchian in Rio de Janeiro.
Galliani also spoke to City's acting chief executive John MacBeath, according to Milan newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, and hopes to agree a deal before Tuesday.
Image
Inter Milan technical director Marco Branca simultaneously held talks with his opposite number at City, Brian Marwood, in London on Thursday.
However, Joorabchian said Tevez was currently only talking to Milan, denting hopes that City will be able to spark a bidding war.
Details of the new offer are being kept under wraps, but it is believed Milan are still seeking an initial loan.
City have made it clear they want to sell Tevez, but the major change is that Milan seem willing to accept conditions that would force them to buy the 27-year-old at the end of the season.
According to Mediaset, the outlet controlled by Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi, this is likely to mean Milan would be forced to pay City £20million at the end of the season if Tevez plays in half of the games he is eligible for during the loan term.
Tevez flew to Rio from Buenos Aires to meet the San Siro powerbroker at his home in Ipanema. After the serious business of negotiations, the pair, along with Joorabchian, were later all smiles at the fashionable Gero restaurant nearby.
Joorabchian told Italian media: 'We have great confidence in the successful outcome of negotiations between the two clubs.
'We had talks with Inter for months. We met in Sardinia. But in August there were more contacts. Now we are talking only with AC Milan and Manchester City also know this.'
Inter are thought to be offering a similar deal and have been in contact with their former manager Roberto Mancini.
Branca has denied that Wesley Sneijder - the Holland midfielder admired by Manchester United - was offered to City as part of the deal.
Meanwhile, reports in Argentina say Tevez has already picked his new home: a luxury four-bedroom apartment close to the fashionable Piazza San Babila at a cost of £4,600 a month.

Sneijder link to City rejected
Branca denies reports of possible swap deal regarding Tevez
Inter Milan have rejected claims that they could be ready to allow Wesley Sneijder to join Manchester City as part of any move for Carlos Tevez.
The Serie A club confirmed that discussions were held between their sporting director Marco Branca and the City hierarchy in London on Thursday as they look to broker a deal for Tevez.
The Argentina international looks certain to leave the Etihad Stadium in the January transfer window after going AWOL in his homeland in the wake of being disciplined for his refusal to warm up during the UEFA Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich back in September.
AC Milan were thought to be leading the race for the 27-year-old former Manchester United and West Ham forward, a position confirmed on Thursday by the player's representative, Kia Joorabchian.
One sticking point to their interest is that the Blues will only sanction a permanent transfer, while Milan are keen to take the bustling striker on loan initially, with a view to completing the move in the summer.
Inter, meanwhile, appear more willing to meet the Premier League club's demands this month, and with details of the discussions between high-ranking Inter and City officials emerging earlier this week, that led to speculation that a swap deal involving Holland international Sneijder could be on the cards.
But that has been dismissed out of hand by Inter, with Branca categorically denying that the talented playmaker could be on his way to the Etihad Stadium.
Branca told Inter's official website: "There were no discussions whatsoever regarding Wesley Sneijder today during our meeting in London with representatives of Manchester City."
The Dutch playmaker, who was said to be a target for Manchester United over the summer, recently stated that he was '90 per cent certain' he would stay at the Giuseppe Meazza this month.

Mancini: We must do all we can
Roberto Mancini has warned Manchester City's owners they "must do everything" to ensure the Blues win the Premier League title this season.
Mancini is concerned his side's battle to win the championship could be badly hampered by an acute shortage of players. Yaya Toure will be missing until the middle of February after the Ivory Coast refused a request to delay the midfielder's departure for African Nations Cup duty.
It has heightened a shortage of players that may result in City not naming a full complement of substitutes against Manchester United on Sunday and leaves Mancini to conclude he needs extra bodies. The City manager said: "This could be the first championship for many years and we need to do everything we can to win it."
He added: "United and Chelsea have won trophies for many years. So they are quiet. They understand that they can play without pressure. For us it's different.
"I said two months ago that we could have a big problem in January because we have to play big games without Yaya."
The problem for City's owners is not finding the cash, it is proving to UEFA they are serious about meeting the strict Financial Fair Play regulations that began this season and which the Blues are virtually certain to fail given the vast scale of their losses.
Only by reducing them dramatically will City's hierarchy hope to avoid punishment, which means Mancini may have to sell before be can buy. To that end, the departure of Carlos Tevez cannot come soon enough, although any movement with AC Milan and Inter, who have also expressed an interest, is proving slow.
"It's better that we sell first," said Mancini. "Maybe then we can then take in other players."
Indeed, Toure could miss up to five Premier League games, in addition to Sunday's FA Cup tie, the fourth round should City get through and the two-legged Carling Cup semi-final with Liverpool. However, Mancini is also acutely aware that with Tevez remaining in Argentina, City have effectively been operating one striker down for the past three months.
"If we have strikers injured then we need to buy another," said Mancini. "Because (Edin) Dzeko has a problem in his knee, at the moment I have one striker and two midfielders."

Hansen: I’m Tipping Them for The Title and I Think They Will Win on Sunday
Hansen believes Manchester City are now the top team in England
Manchester City will win the Premier League according to Alan Hansen, and to make matters worse for Sir Alex Ferguson, the Match of the Day pundit has also backed the Blues to beat Manchester United in the FA Cup on Sunday.
While loath to write off Manchester United, Hansen believes the setbacks Sir Alex Ferguson's side continue to face in regards to their crippling injury list, is hampering their chances of successfully defending their Premier League crown, and playing into Manchester City's hands.
Hansen believes Manchester City can now boast a better side than Manchester United, following two years of lavish investment, and although Sir Alex Ferguson's knowhow inevitably makes the Red Devils worthy opponents, the Match of the Day mainstay believes Roberto Mancini's side are now the team to beat.
"My feeling, even before United's defeat, was that City would win the Premier League. They have better players and more strength in depth than Sir Alex Ferguson's side, although they have yet to be tested over the course of a full season." Hansen told the BBC.
"I have never, ever written off Manchester United. It is a dangerous game and they are only three points behind City.
"But there may come a time when they will be too far back because of the setbacks they are having (losing Nemanja Vidic was a savage one), and the way they are playing."
Looking ahead to this weekend's crunch Manchester derby, Hansen continued: "The FA Cup will have risen up Manchester United's list of priorities after their exit from the Champions League and they have great history and tradition in the tournament.
"Manchester City, though, also have great recent memories as the holders after beating Stoke City at Wembley in May. Manchester City will now have the Premier League firmly as their number one target, but progress in the FA Cup is never to be dismissed lightly and the winners of this game will take away one of football's most precious commodities: confidence.
"So, in addition to tipping them for the title, I also think Manchester City will win on Sunday as they have strengths in key areas that will serve them well, not just this weekend but in the weeks ahead."
Manchester United face Manchester City on Sunday on the back of two straight league defeats. Ferguson's side are three points behind their Manchester counterparts and are currently negotiating a lengthy injury list.

Manchester City are 'not going to go away', admits Sir Alex Ferguson
Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Manchester United's fans they will have to get used to scrapping for honours with their "noisy neighbours".
Ferguson famously used that description to assess Manchester City two years ago, at the start of their £1billion quest to reach the top.
The summit is now in reach, certainly in England given City are three points clear of United in the Barclays Premier League and are favourites to advance from an eagerly-anticipated FA Cup third round tie at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
It is the third time the two clubs have met in cup
combat in the past three seasons.
United emerged triumphant in a thrilling two-legged Carling Cup semi-final in 2010, only for City to gain revenge at the same stage of the FA Cup last season.
"The way we, and our supporters, should look at it is that we may as well get used to it because they are not going to go away," the United boss said.
"We played them in a semi-final last year and the year before, we're both in the Europa League this year and now we are facing them in the FA Cup.
"So we have to get used to the fact that City are going to be challenging for competitions along with us.
"There's every chance we're going to meet at some point - maybe not every year but on average it's going to be pretty regular.
"It's a hard FA Cup draw for us, but it will be hard for them too."
United will be attempting to avoid equalling an unwanted 11-year-old record.
Not since the end of the 2000-01 campaign, when the Premier League had already been won, have Manchester United lost three successive games.
Yet that is the fate that awaits at City if Ferguson cannot cajole a better performance out of his injury-hit team than they produced at Newcastle on Wednesday.
"It is obviously a big game against City in the FA Cup," said Ryan Giggs.
"The atmosphere will be good, we'll take a load of fans there and hopefully we can get back to winning ways."
Ferguson's continued insistence he does not require at least one addition to his squad during this month's transfer window is baffling considering how tough United are finding things at present.
And victory this weekend against opponents who recorded a scarcely believable 6-1 win at Old Trafford on their last meeting and have now opened up a three-point lead in the Premier League following their dismantling of Liverpool on Tuesday, will be extremely tough.

LIVERPOOL and Manchester City are facing a showdown over Birmingham’s highly rated Nathan Redmond.
Redmond, 17, has two years left on his contract but, after appearing 15 times for Chris Hughton’s side, has a clause allowing it to be renegotiated.
Birmingham would rate him in the same bracket as Arsenal youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who joined the Gunners from Southampton for an initial £6m fee, rising to a possible £10m.

Manchester XI Bollox
As the Premier League's top two clubs prepare to clash in the FA Cup this weekend, Goal.com debate which players would make it into a combined best team from the respective squads
The undoubted tie of the weekend in the FA Cup sees Manchester City host Manchester United in a massive derby at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s visitors go into the game on the back of two straight defeats to Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle, so a third successive loss would represent a nightmare start to the New Year.
Roberto Mancini’s men have just come through a mini-stumble of their own, recovering from a draw with West Brom and defeat to Sunderland to record a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Liverpool.
As a result, City are enjoying a three-point advantage at the top of the Premier League, but there will be no points up for grabs when the Manchester giants meet in the Cup. Such is the quality of the two sides; there will be huge talent both on the pitch and in the stands with numerous multi-million pound players unable to make the final selection on Sunday.
Ahead of the tie, Goal.com analyses each area of the two squads and attempts to come up with what would be the best combined team from the respective sides if they had every player fit and available for selection.

The goalkeeper
Sir Alex himself cannot currently decide who should be his No.1 goalkeeper, with the continuous rotation of Anders Lindegaard and big-money summer signing David de Gea not exactly inspiring defensive confidence at Old Trafford.
De Gea has had his impressive moments but still seems error-prone in these early stages of his career, while the Dane represents a more solid, but comparatively unspectacular alternative.
City, on the other hand, have no such problems with Joe Hart firmly established as their top shot stopper. Ever since a successful loan spell with Birmingham City, the England keeper’s stock has continued to rise.
He continues to be one of the most consistent and talented keepers in the league and gets the nod for our selection. His understudy, Costel Pantilimon, also looks promising.

The defence
Micah Richards continues to impress as he enjoys his best season to date. A re-call to the England reckoning is surely on the cards as his combination of robust defending and powerful bursts down the line make him our selection at right-back.
United struggling with Nemanja Vidic out injured is no surprise and with the Serbian ruled out for the rest of the season, troubled times could lie ahead. The powerful stopper has been the unsung hero of the Red Devils’ successes in recent seasons and remains one of the best defenders in world football when he is fit and firing.
City have a player who is rivalling him for those sorts of comparisons, though, with captain Vincent Kompany continuing to shine. After initially playing as a defensive midfielder when he arrived at the club in 2008, the classy Belgian is now the must-pick centre back who has been pivotal to Mancini’s men conceding only 16 goals in 20 league games.
Patrice Evra is not currently on top of his game but the controversial Frenchman is still one of the best around in his position and United will be relying on his experience in the run-in. Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov represent good options for City in that role, but as yet a clear first-choice has not emerged.
Those to narrowly miss out include Phil Jones, who burst onto the scene at the start of the season but has been brought back down to earth in recent games and Joleon Lescott, who has established himself as Kompany’s partner and is beginning to look more solid and consistent.

The midfield
Nani has always been a talented winger but in recent seasons he has added more of an end product – goals and assists – to his flamboyant skills as he matures. While his manager will want even more of that, the Portuguese’s quality and creativity earns him a spot in our line-up.
Yaya Toure may be one of the highest paid players in the Premier League after joining from Barcelona, but he has shown dominant performances in both the defensive and attacking aspects of his midfield play to justify such rewards. Nigel de Jong has not played as regularly this season due to a number of factors, but remains the best ball-winning, holding midfield option – a vital part of any team.
David Silva is in the running for player of the season and rightly so, with some of the former Valencia man’s displays simply oozing class this season. We slot him in on the left wing, but he is also capable of playing anywhere across the pitch in a more advanced position.
Of those to miss out, Antonio Valencia is gradually finding form after a slow start to the season, while Michael Carrick and Gareth Barry do not quite cut it at the highest of levels. Ryan Giggs is a legendary figure at Old Trafford but his influence week-to-week is fading. James Milner provides good energy but doesn’t have the same flair as our wide options, while Anderson remains an enigma.
Adam Johnson is a star of the future, but is being harmed by being unable to secure a regular run in the side. Samir Nasri has not had the start to his City career he would have hoped for – the player was a United target in the summer and things could easily have turned out very differently.

The attack
We are spoilt for choice in attack given but Wayne Rooney has to take one of the striking spots. This season, the United talisman seems to only have two gears – either on stunning form or well off the pace, with usually no middle ground – but he still has a good goalscoring record and is one of the best forwards around.
Sergio Aguero has made an impressive start to life in England. After coming from Spain with a big reputation, he has provided the goals, creativity and energy to make him a handful for any defence our combined Manchester XI would come up against.
Mario Balotelli is a controversial character but has had a very good season on the pitch. His temperament means he narrowly misses out on selection, while Edin Dzeko is a good target man and is having a better season this time around, so almost makes it too.
Dimitar Berbatov has undoubted class but his goal record against the biggest clubs can be called into question. Javier Hernandez had a sensational debut campaign, although injuries have affected his form this time around. While Danny Welbeck is a rising star, he is not yet the finished article.
The talented Argentine Carlos Tevez is our wildcard option to sit on the substitutes’ bench, presuming he’s willing to warm up and come on to the pitch when called upon!

Joe Hart
Micah Richards
Vincent Kompany
Nemanja Vidic
Patrice Evra
Nani
Yaya Toure
Nigel de Jong
David Silva
Wayne Rooney
Sergio Aguero

I was thinking that last night funnierly enough. This would start the cycle again as Tevez would piss off Millan as he's on record as saying he will never set foot in Manchester again ... granted, thats a bit further than a dugout to the pitch

There's no way we should consider a loan at all. We've been clear all along to any potential buyer that it's a sale or nothing else. We should stick to this or we may well end up with another Adebayor situation where the club he's on loan with decide not to buy at the end of the season.

And the report that's getting least attention is that Redknapp could be in for Samba and Junior Hoilet. After Mancini shook Hoilet's hand at the end of the game at Ewood I thought City would go for him, but if Spurs get these two they'll have a better shot at the title.

Also, Santos letting go Paulo Henrique (Ganso)? Man, we must join that fight. Brazilian or not, he looks like a sturdy battling and creative midfielder.

I rate Holiet as well. He'd be a tidy player. Who's the WAG?

Shocking that you'd agree with the best posters on here and just mimic their positions on a player. So fucking clueless about this game and players it's embarrassing. Maybe use your brain and your own opinions for a change? oh, wait, that's right you're American and you don't have either. My bad. Finding a way to use the internet to find out who the WAG is should be something an alleged Cloud technologist ought to be able to do as well. Fucktard.

Hey, that's just mean! I'm going into the corner for a cry.
