Did you get your football education from SkySports? It sure sounds like it. Read the rule, it has to be deemed careless, reckless and endangering an opponent for it to be deemed worthy of a red. This bollox of he had two feet off the ground he had to go is a Sky pundit's mantra and is complete nonsense. If everytime a player has two feet off the ground a red card will be shown then the sliding tackle has effectively been outlawed from the game. If this is the case it's a sad day for football.

Try watching the replay from behind Kompany, it was a clean ONE FOOTED tackle, the trailing leg WOULD NOT have made contact with Nani even if he hadn't jumped as a precaution. One footed or two footed has no bearing anyway on the referee's decision according to the rules.

Just a couple of points... there were no dogs in the ground to witness the tackle ... However from a realistic point of view a professional like Kompany should realise that when both feet leave the ground...you will be walking... And I am afraid that is what happened so it is realistic.
