New Centre Half ?

Postby bluebananamilksheikh » Sun Jan 08, 2012 10:25 pm

If Kompany's ban is not overturned do we need to buy a Centre Half?
There was a school of thought we were short anyway with Kolo going to Africa.
Not sure who we should go for, Samba is an experienced Prem player who could hit the ground running.
Any foreign player would need time which we don't have to adjust.

Any other thoughts?

He was left out of the Bolton team yesterday, so it seems it is nearly a done deal.

Good shout, he's available and I always wondered why he has not been picked ahead over Sideshow Bob at Chelski.

I think they said on the Guardian Podcast that he was looking at going back to Brazil, but has allegedly kissed and made up. Good shout though if available.

Samba isn't as good as people make him out to be, according to my mate who's a Rovers season ticket holder. Match of the Day player apparently.

Why not give a chance to Savic. Seeing him with his head bashed and still defending like he had nothing impressed me. Give him a chance, i think he can do it.
Everyone we will want will cost double so why bother?

Don't fancy up Savic against Carrol, I'd rather have Micah there on Weds.

I can't understand why we don't go for the new Duncan Edwards, obvious choice I would have thought considering his standing in the game. We're loaded, they are skint and he is World class TM apparently ... simples

We can recall Boyata from Bolton in this window and I think we should.

Forgot about Carroll. I am not Savic's biggest fan, i thought he was poor with QPR, but maybe he deserves a chance for playing well in a top game like this was. Micah on the other hand can take care of the Scouse striker, but i don't think is wise to over use him knowing his fitness problems.

I wonder what Lucien Mettomo is doing?

we probably have to now. I can't see us buying a CB to be honest. I think Bob would prefer to buy a striker or midfield player all day long.

We need him to just have enough CB coverage to have one on the bench. Get him back ASAP.

Based on his performances for Bolton if he very worried with Boyata as cover, it'll be a fingers crossed moment, but I still think Savic can do the job until VK is back, he might not even be suspended once the FA look at it

Decent and recent scoring record against the RAGs too...

Agree with this. Boyata isn't playing for us for a reason. Savic is preferred and is far more confident and better on the ball. Richards can also play CB of course, and I wouldn't have any hesitation playing Rekik either.

Whilst I dont have any qualms about spending dosh, it would be nice to see players who are deemed good enough in August for our League-challenging squad given a go.
