Graham Poll Condemns Chris Foy's Performance Yesterday

Postby King Kev » Mon Jan 09, 2012 12:10 am

The red card was harsh and unnecessary — refs are advised to avoid controversy and not to go looking for trouble. Chris Foy managed neither on Sunday.
Vincent Kompany should not have dived in, but he was in control of his body movement, unlike Frank Lampard for Chelsea against Wolves, which resulted in a yellow card but was a much more serious offence.

Image
Controversial: Vincent Kompany was sent off for this challenge on Nani

You could argue that Kompany’s tackle was not even a foul. Nani, who is not slow to make a meal of these things, didn’t even complain.
If the referee wanted to make his mark early in a derby game, which is
possible, then it was a yellow at worst.

Seeing red: Chris Foy sent off Vincent Kompany in the Manchester derby

I wasn’t impressed with the reactions of Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick. They applied pressure to the referee to produce a red card.
It was a game that, once again, called for extra officials behind the touchline, as with UEFA games.
Image
Appeal: Manchester City players were convinced Phil Jones handled the ball inside his own penalty area late on

They would have helped with the referee missing the Kolorov trip on Valencia that should have been a penalty and the Jones handball, which should also have been a spot kick.
This huge game was not a good day for the officials.

Graham Fuctard Poll says the game need officials behind the goal line, what do they ever do?

Have you ever seen one of the twats influence or make a decision. Anyway United have vetoed this as they are worried that having to add personnel to the Old Trafford payroll would affect their ability to comply with FFP rules !!!!!

This is good news as, if too many refs back the decision, the FA will follow. If a rag loving shite like Poll thinks it's wrong, then you can bet your arse it's wrong & perhaps a few more refs will agree & Foy will admit it.

I won't hold my breath though.

the fact that refs have always made mistakes is undeniable. What really made me angry and has done for several weeks is twofold 1) those who run (?) football have completely forgotten that the most important people are still the supporters who spend a small fortune to watch a game , not one ruined by sending people off for nothing ( Milias , Barton and now Vincent) in the last few weeks
2) When they have made a mistake nameless idiots then seem to uphold the decisions even when everyone feels they are obvious mistakes , at least have the bravery to justify why they cannot see what everyone else does.
I am writing to the Premier League to express these views and maybe if enough people do the same something may change, otherwise I am afraid they are ruining the game I have watched at City since 1955

I know what you mean, if it's not a clearcut red card offence (as in Vinnie's case) the ref should give the player the benefit of the doubt inorder to keep the game competitive and entertaining. Just think how much money was spent on tickets just to have it ruined after ten minutes.

Too many ref's want the headlines to be about them.....Poll was one of the worst for this and now its Clattenburg followed by Foy.

Fuck Polls opinion rightly or wrongly..he was an UBBER cunt when he was reffing. The panel at the FA wont do jack shit no matter what unless Foy admits to making a mistake...end of.

Just watched it again...
Its not even a foul. Kompany tackles the ball with one foot, and its the side of his foot. This is what Nani hurdles.
His left foot is forward but not used in the tackle.
From the referees angle you can understand why he has given the red card becasue he doesnt get the 5 different angles that we see in replays. But it is not a red card tackle.

What a grade a cunt whisky nose is. Trying everything he can to get a ban for Kompany because it will help him in the League. Fuck you. Let Savic come in and do the business. Whatever dirty tricks they play we'll beat the rags and win the title.
