Law 12, page 34 states what is an offence for a direct free kick, can't see anything there what Kompany did.
Page 37 shows a list of offences that can incur a red card, he didn't break any of these, will probably be classed as serious foul play.

We can also appeal to the FA on the grounds the length of ban is unfair (similar to what the FA did to UEFA) citing we had a 1 match ban for first red card, this wasn't violent conduct, African cup of nations, severity of games missed etc. Just like the FA used to get Shrek's ban reduced.

Oh, and I'm not deluded, I doubt any of that will actually work.

I've said it before, but the day that a player gets sent off and banned for 4 games for "dangerous" play without actually TOUCHING the opposition player and with studs pointed towards the ground, is the day the tackle dies.

I have never felt so cheated in a football match than when I saw the decision for that tackle, both in real play and then in slow mo. No amount of freeze framing it or showing it time and time again will change my opinion on it.

It was a horrendous decision and every rag fan I know finds it funny he was sent off. Not justified, funny.

If the FA don't have the common sense to rescind this, especially after Rooney's ban being brought down to two games after what could only be described as an assault, then the sheikh really needs to flex his muscles have a legal team mount a challenge on what can only be described as a very inconsistant season for those officiating and disciplining our club.

This isn't the "sore football fan", its fucking ruining the game for me. This is dead serious at this stage.

Agree completely except the bold bit. I saw the alan wilkie imaginary penalty at the fleapit. Very similar but we were clearly in charge of that match and had it taken from us by a cheating, balding, moustachioed wanker with no more right to a continued existence than a microbe.

This time at least there is a possibility of overturning it to a limited extent.

Tunnel cam was very interesting when Vinny went off he was pissed off then waited for the ref and i think i heard Kiddo say dont worry he said we can appeal and he calmed down.
Mancini said to the ref at half time,he did well,did very well.

They've just had Keith Cooper (ex-league, prem, international ref and football assessor) who said that he wouldn't have even given a card but just had a word in Vinnie's ear. He went onto say that even 12 months ago Foy wouldn't have even called it as a foul however, he went onto say that the Prem Ref's must've got together recently and come up with this regulation as it's not been used before, but not passed the new ruling down to the manager's or player's.

This is a man with many years experience who still has links with ref's and clubs alike. If he's saying this then it's because he knows it to be true rather than just thinking it to be so. Also, I noticed on Tunnel Cam that Vince went to see Foy after the match and when he came out Brian Kidd said something about appealing it. Now, this could pose a couple of questions but what I'd like to know is why Vince bothered to go and see him if he'd been warned prior to the game about that type of challenge?
